THE Eurasian spoonbill () has made a remarkable recovery in Britain and last year there were 77 fledglings raised at the colony at Holkham in Norfolk alone! Globally, six species of spoonbill are recognised, and they are found on every continent except Antarctica. Unlike the Eurasian species, the African spoonbill () is unlikely to be making itsusually paler bill. It stands about 90cm tall on its long pink-red legs.
