Neither trunk nor tail

PHILNA DE VILLIERS from the Villiersdorp district writes: We saw this elephant calf without a trunk or tail in Moremi Game Reserve, Botswana, in April 2024. It appeared to be in a fairly good condition - we saw it eat its mother’s dung. Will the calf be able to survive without its trunk?
