BEHIND THE QUILT
CELEBRATE THE HARVEST!
“The image of harvest and its festival in the autumn months offer a celebration of the warm summer that has been (raised eyebrows around the UK after a rather disappointing summer) and the changing colours of the fields as drying wheat crops are cut back and bails or sheaves are stacked neatly. Leaves change colour, shades of summer hanging on as autumn creeps in.
“Memories of Sunday school and collecting harvest items to display all came into my mind when designing this quilt. Included in your cover gift pack of appliqué shapes with this issue are various leaves, an apple, a pear, corn, wheat heads, and nuts and berries. Bring them together in your own celebration of a harvest festival in as many blocks as you wish to stitch, or follow my lead here with appliqué, an FPP border and dancing leaf blocks blowing around the quilt border.” – Paula Hope
