“Within a few hours, the U.S. Government had announced the end of the two biggest antitrust cases in history—and wrote about the Department of Justice’s “stunning victory” over AT&T, resulting in the divestiture of the Bell System. In recent antitrust cases, the Department of Justice sued Alphabet’s Google over monopolistic search and ad practices. Google says it will appeal the lost search case which may require it to sell its Chrome browser. And as of this printing, a decision in the ad case is awaited.
