About this audiobook
“Flowerheart is like a garden in full bloom: vibrant and sweet, whimsical and wondrous.” —Allison Saft, New York Times bestselling author of A Far Wilder Magic
Perfect for fans of Margaret Rogerson and Tamora Pierce, this stand-alone YA debut is a cozy, cottagecore fantasy romance about a girl with powerful and violent magic that she must learn to control—or lose everything she loves.
Clara’s magic has always been wild. But it’s never been dangerous. Then a simple touch causes poisonous flowers to bloom in her father’s chest.
The only way to heal him is to cast an extremely difficult spell that requires perfect control. And the only person willing to help is her former best friend, Xavier, who’s grown from a sweet, shy child into someone distant and mysterious.
Xavier asks a terrible price in return, knowing Clara will give anything to save her father. As she struggles to reconcile the new Xavier with the boy she once loved, she discovers how many secrets he’s hiding. And as she hunts for the truth, she instead finds the root of a terrible darkness that’s taken hold in the queendom—a darkness only Clara’s magic is powerful enough to stop.

What our readers think
Readers find this title to be a beautiful debut, perfect for fans of Margaret Rogerson and Allison Saft. Flowerheart is a cottagecore fantasy romance that immerses readers in its pages. The book offers a queernormative world inspired by the Victorian era, with a bisexual main character and discussions of mental health. While some reviewers found the main character whiny and felt there was poor character development, others enjoyed the cute standalone story and the magic setting. Overall, Flowerheart is recommended for those who enjoy flowers, teenage angst, and romance.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5I kind of wish there was a readable version of it, is this a graphic novel??? Pleaseeee
- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5El concepto está interesante y el establecimiento del mundo tiene mucho potencial, pero la trama no me entretuvo como esperaba
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5It's cute. Little stand alone about a girl who is learning to control her magic
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5A beautiful debut. It's perfect for fans of Margaret Rogerson and Allison Saft.
Flowerheart is a cottagecore fantasy romance that had me completely immersed in its pages. The vibes in this book are something else. There's magic in the pages of Flowerheart and that is a great point in favor of Catherine's pen. Although it is a world inspired by the Victorian era, we found a world that is queernormative. It makes me very happy to find more and more queer fantasy books set in worlds without any prejudice towards queer people.
I loved Clara, she is a character that grows a lot throughout the book. Also, this book has bisexual rep and here we love a bi main character.
If you like flowers, teenage angst, romance, discussions of mental health and a beautiful and magic setting you need to give this book a try. - Rating: 1 out of 5 stars1/5Main character is winey, poor character development. It’s a nice concept but you are thrown into this world with little to no knowledge of the magic in this world. And still at the end don’t really understand how this world came to be.
