About this audiobook

How far would you go to bring back someone you love?

When Chris's son dies in a tragic car crash, her world is devastated. The walls of grief close in on Chris's life until, one day, a small cut on her finger changes everything.

A drop of blood falls from Chris's hand onto her son's roadside memorial and, later that night, Chris thinks she sees his ghost outside her window. Only, is it really her son's ghost, or is it something else—something evil?

Soon Chris is playing a dangerous game with forces beyond her control in a bid to see her son, Trey, alive once again.

"There's a single note that plays through all of Laurel Hightower's Crossroads, and in that note you can hear a mother's justified devastation, a lover's acceptance, and the haunting displacement of a ghost. Refreshingly nuanced character, down to earth in the rightest of ways, Crossroads will sincerely move you. There is a big mind, and an even bigger heart, behind this book." -- Josh Malerman, New York Times best-selling author of Bird Box and Malorie

"Crossroads is a gripping, deeply emotional ride. From its very first sentence to its shattering finale, this novella held me spellbound. If you aren't reading Laurel Hightower, you're missing out on one of horror's brightest rising stars." -- Jonathan Janz, author of The Raven

Cross Roads by laurel Hightower was an extremely interesting premise for a book. I listen to this an audiobook and the narrator was terrific as well.

This story follows a grieving mother after the untimely death of her young 22 year old son. She lived her life for her child and in the years following his death has a very hard time dealing with her grief over his loss. One day while visiting his memorial at the site where he passed she accidentally delivers a blood sacrifice that brings her son back to visit her at night. But some thing isn't quite right with her son and she believes that she must give more and more of a sacrifice in order to save her son. Overtime she accelerates the sacrifices that she's giving at the memorial site. She does this in hopes that her son will live again. Ultimately she's led to believe that the ultimate sacrifice must be given in order for her son to live. The story is about dealing with grief, forging new relationships despite numerous obstacles and the power of the love of a mother.

I give this story a solid 5/5. I really enjoyed it and I thought it was a wonderful premise for a story. One I honestly had not read before. I highly recommend for this time of the year I felt it was just spooky enough while being endearing as well. You really feel the main characters grief as you go through this story.

A tale of grief, sacrifice, and a mother's love. How far would you go for a lost child? As parents we all hope that we never have to answer that question, but Hightower did a wonderful job delving into those terrible depths.

The characters and the feeling of dread were so real in this book. I almost had to stop listening, simply because I am a mom as well and the main characters’ feelings were tearing me apart. Beautifully done!

The writing was good, but then the character of Chris got to be so pathetic that you just wanted her to end her life so the story would be over. THEN the end comes, and it was such a HUGE disappointment. Cannot recommend this at all. Sorry.
