About this ebook
This book is an introduction to the spiritual path. It's message: the universe exists as an act of divine love and our purpose as living, conscious beings is to express that love. The interplay of destiny and free will, karma and reincarnation orient us in time towards a realisation of our true nature. The soul is steered into higher levels of understanding through the practice of meditation, progression through the chakras and the reading of tarot cards. The soul longs to be loved, the author tells us, for this is the reality it once knew when it was with God. The absence of this divine benevolence is the root of psychological malady. Lessons in Spirituality is an instructional guide for creating a more positive outlook and a freer, healthier state of mind - the beginning of the soul's journey back to spiritual unity.

Introduction
I have written this book at the request of my many students who have felt that they would like a record of the teachings they have received from me over the years.
These lessons are based on my own personal studies over the last forty years of this lifetime. They are practical and of down to Earth common sense. If you practice them, you will find that your whole attitude to life will change for the better.
These lessons are positive and of practical use in your daily life. However, reading them will not make them yours. This is my knowledge gained over the years through hard work and study and the help of many teachers. It will not become yours until you use it in your daily life.
If the knowledge you gain from this book makes you a happier, more positive being, then it has been a worthwhile exercise.
I can guarantee that if you use this knowledge in a positive way you will be happier, live longer and be healthier, but remember it is not magic. You must do the work. There is no such thing as instant spirituality or instant anything. It all takes hard work, but is extremely worthwhile. Try it - what can you lose, only your negativity.

The Path to Self-Awareness,
Soul Awareness and Psychic Awareness
Self awareness is awareness of self, soul awareness is being aware that the soul is the most important part of you, and psychic awareness is putting it all together and using it for your own improvement.
This means that you must start with yourself if you wish to improve the quality of your life.
You are the only one who really knows you.
Do not expect others to make you happy, you must make yourself happy. Learn to like yourself.
These are some of the ways to begin liking yourself:
1.) Do not allow other people to make you feel guilty;
2.) Accept responsibility for your own acts, but not those of others;
3.) Do not harbour negative feelings of jealousy, envy and resentment towards others;
4.) Learn to forgive others if you wish to be forgiven;
5.) Never react negatively towards others;
6.) Try to be kind and considerate of the feelings of others;
7.) Realise that you are not responsible for the negative reactions of others towards you;
8.) Accept the fact that no one is perfect and always be willing to forgive the other person’s imperfections, as you expect them to forgive yours;
9.) Give to others the freedom and space you want for yourself and never impose your attitudes upon them;
10.) Learn to forgive yourself. You are not supposed to be perfect;
11.) Always be willing to listen to a friend’s problems without becoming emotionally involved or accepting their burden;
12.) Always remember, there are no sins, there are no mistakes, only learning experiences.
When you start using these helpful hints you will begin to like yourself because you are at last being true to yourself. You cannot be happy if you are not being true to yourself. Some of the attributes you must begin to cultivate are:
Patience, Tolerance, Understanding, Kindness and Love.
If you do not have them already these attributes must be cultivated as they will not come to you overnight. You must practice.

Lesson 1
WHAT IS SPIRITUALITY?
The dictionary meaning of the word spirituality is:
...of the spirit as opposite to matter, of the soul especially as acted upon by God; of or proceeding from God, holy inspired or concerned with the sacred.
None of these meanings are quite true as I see spirituality. To become spiritual you must use your psychic ability and your soul ability, together with your faith in God. Unless you have faith in God, or something outside yourself as a Creator of the Universe, you are only using half of your ability and you are not spiritual in the true sense of the word. As Jesus said so long ago, The Kingdom of God is within you.
So to become spiritual you must start with yourself.
There are two rules of spirituality:
Never generalise,
Never intellectualise.
There must only be acceptance and open mindedness. The minute you begin to analyse and logically try to work out spirituality then you will immediately lose it. So it follows that you must start with yourself as you are the only one who really knows you.
If you want to make everyone happy - start with yourself
If you want to love everyone - start with yourself.
If you want to be tolerant, kind and understanding with other people - again start with yourself.
If you want to be forgiven and to forgive - start with yourself.
In other words, learn to like yourself. After all God loves you, so you cannot be so bad.
For us to leave this world having progressed we must not incur any karma or debts and we must change our negative thoughts to positive ones.
These are some of the ways to begin:
- do not allow other people to make you feel guilty
- accept responsibility for your own acts but not those of other people
- do not harbour negative feelings of jealousy, envy or resentment against others
- learn to forgive others, even seventy times seventy
- try to never act negatively towards others
- try to be kind and considerate of other people’s feelings without becoming emotionally involved
- try to realise that you are not responsible for the negative reactions of others towards you or your actions
- learn to accept the fact that no one on earth is perfect and always be willing to forgive another person’s imperfections, as you expect them to forgive yours
- give to others the freedom and space you want for yourself and never impose your attitudes on them
- always be forgiving of yourself – you are not supposed to be perfect
- learn to love without becoming emotionally involved
- always be willing to listen to another’s problems without accepting their load or anxieties
- be slow to give advice, for each individual must find their own solution to problems – ask and you shall receive
- remember always there are no mistakes or sins, only learning experiences
When you begin on the path to spirituality you will be overcome with a longing to help others who have not found the way. This is the way you can best help:
- first of all, ask the Angels of Light to help you find the right words - they are always there and willing to help, but must be asked;
- secondly, believe that they are speaking through you;
- thirdly, accept that the words are the right ones.
If you allow yourself to be used and believe that you will be used, then the words will be the right ones. Accept the fact that you will be used if you ask.
To attain spirituality you must use the attributes of the soul. These are:
Patience
Tolerance
Understanding
Love
You must also understand that these will not come overnight. You must practice, practice, practice. Only by constant practice can these attributes become part of you: you have to do them to be them. In each situation in which you find yourself, say the applicable words over and over again - patience, patience, patience - even when you are seething inside. Eventually you will feel calmer.
To become spiritual you must let your soul do your thinking for you. Ask yourself each time you want to do something Is this good for my soul or my ego?
When the answer is my soul
then you are well on the way to becoming more spiritual. When people ask, what can we do? Where do we start?
say, do what you can and start where you are.
How then to go about becoming more spiritual? There are four ways in which you can become more self-aware and I call these the four B’s.
Be Truthful
As Shakespeare once wrote, To thine own self be true and it follows as the night the day, you cannot be false to any man.
How often each day do we lie to ourselves or to others? They may be just small lies, but they are just as dangerous as the big ones to the soul who wants to learn the truth, for they set the pattern of your thinking. If you seek to learn and to know the truth then you must always be truthful. You attract towards you what you are and if you are a liar then all you will attract is lies.
It is not good enough to hear no evil, see no evil, speak no evil.
This is what the Church calls the sin of omission. We seekers after truth must learn to live and speak only the truth, making it an integral part of ourselves. Every time we lie, no matter how small or insignificant the lie may seem to be, we are being false to ourselves and to our ideals.
Be Ruthless
By ruthless, I mean you must have a goal and stick to it. It may be very hard as others will always try to dissuade you, but you must have the discipline to stick to it. Jesus was a man who was ruthless; he stuck to his goal no matter how hard it became or how it hurt others. It was his goal and he had to achieve it at whatever cost. They called him a man without sin – this is true but not in the way we interpret sin today. To
