Healthy and Traditional Eating In The Mediterranean

About this ebook
Healthy and Traditional Eating In The Mediterranean takes you to nine countries on the Mediterranean Sea, providing a guide for the traveler's palette with forty full-color photos. Learn more about the traditional dishes of each cuisine and how the modern traveler can look forward to delicious, local, healthy eating throughout their travels.
It is pretty obvious that some of the healthiest people in the world come from the countries around the Mediterranean, and they happen to share a few food priorities in common. Besides eating good, fresh foods, they also spend time preparing the foods with quality ingredients, rather than rushing something that turns out mediocre. The Mediterranean population is also known for taking their time over a meal, which is great advice for people who want to ‘eat healthy’.
So what are the tenets of a healthy Mediterranean diet? Traditional Mediterranean cuisine includes the kinds of good fats that the body can use, such as olive oil. You’re going to see that people eat salt in a healthy proportion, as well as salads and vegetables prepared in fresh ways that take advantage of the great flavors of fresh, healthy, ripe foods. You’ll also notice that meat and cheese is eaten with most major meals, but in amounts that are reasonable, adding flavor and textures, which are delicious and satisfying.
A good, healthy, traditional Mediterranean diet will satisfy in a way that allows you to eat only a healthy amount of food. Our bodies need a little bit of everything in order to stay strong and healthy, and by including foods that our ancestors have eaten for centuries, you can ensure that you’re getting healthy levels of fats, carbohydrates, proteins, fiber, dairy, and even meat. Balance is key, as well as a respect for the process of cooking and preparing foods.

I did not know I was a digital nomad until after I became one. The idea of traveling and working around the world has been part-dream and part-goal for a decade or more. Leaving our home, friends, family in Ojai and throughout Southern California seemed big, almost impossibly big. Being on the road seems normal, ordinary in the best possible way.

Lately, more and more attention has been paid to the Mediterranean diet. As the complexity of healthy eating shows, there’s no single best way to eat. However, it’s pretty obvious that some of the healthiest people in the world come from the countries around the Mediterranean, and they happen to share a few food priorities in common.
