About this ebook
‘BV Treatments That Work’ is all about finding a remedy for bacterial vaginosis that works well and that you are also happy with. It explores the problems that go with this often miss diagnosed and bewildering condition and provides information about the best ways to take care of it. It begins with the importance of getting a good diagnosis of your problem, continues on to detail all of the various treatments that can be utilized and then describes how to make yourself free from BV from then on. The priority of the book is that you should be in control of your own treatment and relates this to some of the best home cures that can be used to treat BV.
As with most distressing conditions of this kind, Bacterial Vaginosis is talked about very little, in polite conversation, except by women who have to put up with it. Even Doctors sometimes have problems talking about it with their female patients. This is because BV is a very misunderstood condition and can often be confused with sexually transmitted diseases. It is misunderstood by both patients and Doctors. This is worrying, because they are the very people who end up having to treat it.
Women go to health professionals for an accurate diagnosis and to get a good treatment that will work fast. For most of our usual health problems this is great and the doctor is easily able to treat your painful piles or sore breasts so that you can go home and get on with your life in peace. With BV, however, this is often not the case. In many cases Doctors only have one cure, that they use, and when it doesn’t do the job that they expect it to their only recourse is to give the same treatment again and again. This means that you need to be totally on top of your knowledge when you go to see your Doctor. In this way you can be ready to ask questions about BV and the treatment that is prescribed. This book will provide you with the knowledge that you need, so that you can be confident when talking to your doctor.
This book gives a lot of different treatments that can be used at home. The aim is to find treatments that work for you. A lot of women find that the things that work well for one person will not work at all for others. You should try out the home cures given in the book and then decide which of them are right for you. You may eventually end up using a combination of remedies that work together and get the job done.
The one thing that most BV sufferers desire is to be free of Bacterial Vaginosis. They don’t want it to keep returning. Due to this, the book takes a lot of time helping you to produce a plan that will hopefully keep you BV free.
Ellen Vincent
Ellen Vincent was brought up in Ghana but now lives in the UK. She is interested in all things that are natural. Ellen has noticed that many of the cosmetics and treatments that are available in the West contain lots of artificial ingredients and are often based on oils and substances made from petro-chemicals. After comparing them with the kinds of things that she used in Ghana she has found that the petro-chemical based ones can cause irritations and bad reactions as well as not being as good as natural based products. She now extensively makes her own cosmetics and only uses the best natural ingredients that she can find. Back in the old country coconut oil use is widespread and is used in cooking as well as to make body creams. She uses virgin coconut oil to cook with and uses it as the base for many of her skin and hair creams and oils. Ellen now produces a range of natural cosmetics that she sells in her local area in the UK under the name of 'Natural Revelations'. She hopes that she will be able to introduce these to Ghana at some stage together with all of the books that she has written on natural healthy living. Dealing with the outside of your body is fine but, to make the most of the creams and oils that you apply, you need to make sure that the foods that you eat are also doing their job. She is a big fan of green smoothies and makes sure that she has these every day. She feels invigorated after drinking them. You should look out for Ellen's books on green smoothies which include a volume that just contains ideas for recipes. She has built up her vast collection of green smoothie recipes by experimentation and following good practice. In the UK she came across apple cider vinegar and has found that this too is very useful when it comes to treating your skin and keeping your body healthy. She was so amazed by the many uses that can be found for apple cider vinegar that she wrote a book all about it. This too will soon be available through Smashwords. If you want to find out about how using a range of natural ingredients can be so good for your body and health, then you really should read Ellen's books. These are available in both electronic formats and as paperbacks. She is hoping to produce a book specifically for the care of Black hair and skin and as a result you should watch out for this when it is actually published in the near future.

Introduction
There are a lot of different chronic conditions that can affect the vaginal area of women. We are used to getting yeast infections that seem to come and go with a will of their own. We are also used to the visits to doctors and gynecologists where we are told that our great problem is just another yeast infection. It is no surprise therefore, that after a few of these experiences women don’t even bother seeking further medical advice.
Rather than getting a diagnosis of the condition it seems less bother to resort to an easy fix by going to the nearest pharmacy or drugstore. There are plenty of creams or powders that can easily be obtained over the counter for such conditions ‘found down there’. In addition to this they are also cheaper than resorting to a prescription medicine. As a result it certainly makes sense to try them out in the hope that they will do the trick and cure the condition. There are also plenty of family, home or folk cures for these conditions as well. This may include drinking juices such as those made from cranberries, having hot baths or even cold baths. With all of these quack cures it is no wonder that we become confused as to where to turn, or where to go for help.
Instead of grabbing the first thing at hand, what we should do is to try and work out what is actually going on and why the condition keeps coming back. The sad fact is that, despite all of these treatments it is likely that we are actually trying to sort out the wrong problem. The continual yeast infection, that you think you have, may in actual fact be Bacterial Vaginosis. This condition is often simply called bacterial vaginosis. It is unfortunate that bacterial vaginosis may in a lot of ways be very similar to the yeast infections that we are used to. It is also often the case that in other medical conditions we may end up treating the wrong thing. An example of this is eczema and athlete’s foot. You may have itchy toes and go onto think that you have athlete’s and go onto use a fungicide to treat it. The itchiness goes away and you think you have cured it only for it to return again in a few days. This can get very frustrating unless you suddenly identify that the thing is eczema rather than a fungal infection. Here you can see that by making an assumption we end up using the wrong treatment. If only you had known that it was eczema you would have used the right treatment. Bacterial vaginosis is rather like this. There are millions of women who are busy thinking that they have a yeast problem instead of bacterial vaginosis and are hard at work treating it with the wrong things and then wondering why it doesn’t go away and keeps coming back. In this way bacterial vaginosis can be both emotionally and physically exhausting. It can make people feel embarrassed and make them limit their normal daily life to fit in with it.

Signs and Symptoms
If you have bacterial vaginosis you will find that you get painful burning and itching in the genital region which can’t be got rid of by using the majority of commercially available powders, creams or douches. In addition to this you will find that it won’t matter how hard that you try to keep clean and fresh there will always be a horrible smell that you can’t remove. People describe the smell as something like a fishy odor. It is also difficult to keep the symptoms to yourself especially if you are in a relationship. Having bacterial
