PUBLISHER’S NOTE
After publishing a series of interesting books on Mathematics for children, such as Quiz Time Mathematics, Mathemagic Puzzles & Brain Drainers, V&S Publishers has now come up with an altogether different and fun-filled book full of games, activities, puzzles, practice test papers and worksheets based on simple principles of Mathematics for kids till the age of eight or nine.
The book teaches the young learners the various branches of Mathematics like Number System, Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication and Division with numbers, Shapes and Sizes of objects present in the Nature, making them aware of the concepts of Length, Breadth, Height, Weight, Capacity, etc. and their measurements in a simple and interesting manner.
This book will be of great help to the teachers, especially of the primary sections of schools and act as a useful handbook for parents at home, who are always very keen on finding ways and means to teach and guide their young ones on the various subjects studied at school in a simple, fun-filled and effective manner.
The book actually makes Mathematics really easy and fun to learn, solve and understand.
ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS
"Where the clear stream of reason has not lost its way
Into the dreary desert sand of dead habit
Where the mind is led forward by thee
Into ever-widening thought and action
Into that heaven of freedom, my Father, let my country awake"
— Rabindranath Tagore
My heartfelt gratitude to my mother and family members for lighting my way with soothing light of encouragement.
To all my students and contemporary teachers my heartiest wishes for keeping alight my passion for knowledge.

PREFACE
Trends and buzzwords come and go in education but the need for differential instruction is constant - the students deserve to have their individual learning needs satisfied.
Learning Mathematics the Fun Way adheres to the vision of the latest National Curriculum Framework. It relates mathematical concepts to the child’s own environment and experiences thereby inculcating the skills of quantifying a physical experience.
The main aim is to hold a modern approach but flexibly designed to keep the fun quotient high, so that learning becomes synonymous to enjoyment.
Each chapter starts by focusing on clear objectives - interesting but easy activities, games, puzzles and self-tests - to finally come upon the acquired skill by the end of the chapter. The common mistakes committed by the students are pointed out in each chapter along with the correct solutions. The approach is based on fostering cognitive skills leading to creativity betterment and increases the motivation to learn by keeping things simple.
The lucid language helps the children understand every chapter on their own. It is suggested that only when the student assimilates the content of one chapter the next chapter is attempted. The advantage of this book is that it emphasises on teaching with meaning, drawing on real-life models to help students gain confidence, enhance problem solving skills and imbibe a sense of achievement.
Taking advantage of my long experience in teaching Mathematics my aim has been to showcase that acquiring skills in numbers can be interesting, relevant and importantly super fun!
This book is a creation not only of the author but also of the editor, Mr. D J Borah as well as the designing and production team at V&S Publishers. The guidance from Mr.Sahil Gupta is incomparable. I sincerely thank them all for their valuable inputs.
As there is always a scope for improvement, any suggestion from my fellow teachers, parents and students are most welcome.
