Chapter 1: A Classy Felony
Sitting in a car plotting how to commit a Class A felony with my parents wasn't exactly how I planned on celebrating my 8th grade presidency. Okay, so I wasn't completely sure if felonies were divided into classes, but if they were, breaking into the county morgue would definitely be one of the bigger ones.
I should have been hanging out with Tai, Kyle, and Spencer drinking milkshakes at Willie's Sweet Shop in order to celebrate my awesome victory over Susan Claire for the 8th grade presidency. Our celebration the day before had been cut short ’cause Tai was upset over Josh. Long story. Okay, well, not really. Tai was completely in love with Josh and Josh thought she was too young for him. Story over.
Anyway, instead of celebrating my victory, I was in Pittsburgh with Mom and Dad trying to kidnap a dead alien.
Okay, pause. Rewind. Let me explain. A couple of days ago, a dude showed up on our doorstep, rang my doorbell and died. He happened to have a note in his hand in a strange language. The only recognizable word was my name. Priscilla. Though, technically, it could have been referring to any Priscilla, everyone just assumed it was talking about me. Honestly, probably a safe assumption. I mean, I can shoot fire out of my fingers. That ability kind of has the potential to attract some weirdos.
So my parents ran some tests on the dead dude and they figured out that he was not quite human. So now we had to get the body back before the US government discovered it and then we were thrown into some 'unfavorable spotlight' as my dad put it.
Do we know where we're going?
my mom asked as we circled the building for the third time.
Sorry, my X-ray vision is on the fritz,
I said, pointing to my eyes.
But you don't ...
she began.
Joke, Mom. I'm joking.
Oh, right,
she said.
So how are we going to get in?
I asked.
A better question would be, once we get in, how do we find the body and then get out?
my dad asked.
I had never seen my parents so confused. They were the smart ones. They always knew what to do. To be fair,
