CHAPTER ONE

CUPID SAMPSON

Why is it that some bitches get everything while the rest of us are treated like shit? I mean when do the regular chicks get their day? When do we get the gifts the so-called pretty girls are blessed with the moment they slide from between their mother’s bloody thighs?

Well I’m not waiting anymore for my day. I decided to finally take what’s due me. I was gonna sit my nigga down and say, If you want me then you gonna have to tell her about us. No longer am I gonna be your ‘By Night Bitch’.

But when I pulled up in front of Skeezers Strip Club what do I see? Sprinkles’ shiny new candy apple red Mercedes Benz staring at me. I mean what the fuck?

This is the shit I’m talking about. He didn’t even tell me he bought her new wheels. Where was my car? Where was my gold chains and diamond rings? I wanted it all and he promised it to me but once again I was the one taking an ‘L’.

I know what his thing is though.

He’s only fucking that bitch because she’s Latino and he wanted his kids to be vanilla colored. And please don’t get me wrong…I love being black but I told him repeatedly that if I had to choose another race it would be hers because she had him in every way I desired.

That ain’t in the cards for me this lifetime though. So a bitch like me gotta come through and get hers by any means. And that’s exactly what I intended.

I adjusted my mirror to look at my face inside my beat up, stinky, old ass, Ford Escort. I’m starting to hate myself because he always pointed out the differences between us. She was tall, Latino and wild. I was skinny, dark-skin and had a fat ass. He said our distinctions was why he wanted me but why didn’t I feel favored?

Since my pussy got juicy as it always did whenever I thought about him, even if I was mad, I removed the wipes from the glove compartment and cleaned my box. When I was done I tossed it in the passenger seat. The whole car was trash anyway so who cares?

Shrugs.

Needing my breath fresh in case Killer was inside kicking it with Levine, the other owner of the club, I tossed a piece of gum in my mouth. Sliding out my car I switched toward the entrance. With each step I was starting to feel better about myself. Besides, I’m not just one of the regular strippers in Skeezers. I have a following and do alright for myself around here. I might not make as much money as Sprinkles or have the private dressing room but with or without Killer my bills were paid.

The club wasn’t open yet but the moment I came inside I could hear Sprinkles and Levine arguing.

Again.

At first I didn’t understand why Levine hated Sprinkles so much until I started fucking Killer on the side. Apparently when Levine’s daughter was murdered and the old owner Poe gifted Skeezers to Levine out of guilt, she took the club over but couldn’t handle the job.

Two years later, Skeezers needed work so Levine went to the man every nigga in D.C. went to for money troubles…Jameson Killer Floyd.

From what I hear she couldn’t keep up with the payments and she had to make him a partner. It wasn’t going to be as easy as she thought because he wanted full control. Dudes like Killer must have power. It’s one of the traits that make them so sexy and its another reason he got me so wrapped up.

Once he was inside Skeezers and the contract was signed he brought his girlfriend Sprinkles who worked at another strip club that he use to shake dope out of. They were a duo. Where you saw him you saw her.

Just to be irritating to Levine I walked up to Sprinkles’ door and knocked. Who the fuck is it? Sprinkles yelled.

It’s me, Sprinkles. Cupid, open the door, girl.

The fucked up part about all of this is that Sprinkles is my best friend. I don’t feel guilty about that either because bitches have fucked their best friend’s dudes since the beginning of time. Look at any Roman tale and you’ll see a similar story. But I didn’t want to just fuck Killer. I wanted him for myself and I was willing to do anything to see that happen.

At the end of the day Sprinkles got to go.

She opened the door and let me inside. Hey, Cupid! She seemed happy to see me, even as I looked over her shoulder for Killer. But instead of seeing him the only person I saw was mad faced Levine.

I can come back if ya’ll are busy. I looked between them knowing Sprinkles wouldn’t want me to leave.

Girl, please. She looked back at Levine. Besides, she was just leaving. She waved her hand. Bounce, Levine. We’re done here and you’re working my nerves anyway.

Levine walked up to me and said, Don’t be late tonight. Ohio’s pasty pale ass called off again and I need all tits on deck. She looked at Sprinkles. And that means both of you bitches. She stormed out, slamming the door behind her.

As I walked deeper into Sprinkles’ private dressing room I realized I had every legit reason in the world to hate her.

I heard Poe, the last owner, had the room designed for his best friend who was murdered here. Maybe that’s why whenever I was here I always felt like somebody else was listening to our conversation.

Where Kitten? I asked.

Sprinkles rolled her eyes and plopped down on her chair. Who knows? But I think she’s on crack now.

My eyes widened. What the fuck are you talking about? That doesn’t make any sense.

It doesn’t mean it’s not true. She turned around and adjusted her makeup in the mirror. And since we both know that her and Levine are best friends, I’m wondering how long it’s gonna take her to be strung out too.

Are you sure about that? The thing was I liked Kitten.

Kitten is the coolest manager in the world and would do anything for you, which is why bitches loved taking advantage. They would show up late when they wanted and expect the same hourly rate when they weren’t even on the clock. Levine not having a good manager for the club was the main reason she got into Killer for so much money.
