      Paul stood by the front door, hiding in the shadows as he leaned on the frame and glanced at the time on his phone. A peal of laughter came from inside the house, and he smiled to hear that Sasha's voice didn't sound angry. If nothing else, he knew that this increased the odds that tonight would happen.

      His heart rate increased when he thought the plan that Andrew had come up with, and even though he did feel a strong feeling of guilt at their planned deception, it was somewhat tempered as he remembered that all of tonight's planning was straight from Andrew's mind, and it was completely his friend's idea.

      Several minutes later when the time on his phone changed to say 12:00 midnight, Paul stepped up to the door and stood up on his tip-toes to peek in through the small window. He saw Andrew leaning on the back of the couch in the living room, taking a long drink from the amber liquid in his glass, and when it seemed like Sasha was nowhere around, Paul reached for the handle and turned the knob.

      Walking in silently, Paul saw Andrew flinch in surprise to see him, then his friend shook his head as he visibly relaxed. For a tense moment, the men stood without speaking while Paul looked around the room, then back at Andrew as he tilted his head to the side and asked the question with his eyes.

      It's just like we discussed, Andrew said softly and without emotion, everything is set up for you, but...

      But what? Paul prodded, even though he was sure he knew what was wrong with his friend. Should I not be here? Maybe this was a bad idea?

      Andrew opened his mouth to reply, then shook his head and tossed back the last of the whiskey in his glass. "No. No, you don't have to leave, not unless you don't want to be here. This is harder than I thought it would be though, but you know how I can't stand to leave a debt of any kind unpaid. You saved my job, my marriage, and probably
