EPILOGUE
FOREWORD
This story is based on historical and geographical facts, however, some of the names, characters and scenarios are fictional and consequently, any similarity with real present or past situations and conditions, as well as with dead or living individuals, are purely coincidental.
We often hear principles such as, generics load the gun and the environment pulls the trigger
or put in another way, heredity provides the raw material and the environment end up molding it to accommodate to the circumstances
. Even more often we hear we are a product of our own environment
, in fact, each one of those ideas are all right on target.
Yet, when it comes to the mix of heredity and environmental influence, it may present itself in many different proportions as part of the recipe
. Children born from the same parents and raised on similar conditions may developed into totally different individuals, and we wonder where was or what made the difference. It most likely has to do with the mix itself.
Although we certainly cannot alter the generic material (at least not yet), however, we can help control or modify the environment around us. Since those factors determine and define who we are. Consequently, it is paramount that our children get protected and sheltered, so as to provide the best possible conditions to sponsor the development of useful, responsible and productive individuals, since they are the defining character of our nation, or any nation for that matter.

and in doing so, will donate a portion of the proceeds resulting from the selling of this book, to those causes that promote and contribute to the well being and welfare of the children of our world.
CHAPTER 1
THE CONTRACT
It was a bright and balmy morning of Summer in Miami, Florida USA. It was also Monday and the date was August 23, 2004. Kevin Dulles, 36, a known locally alleged thug and hit man was driving his late model silver Lexus along Brickell Avenue. In his head he was busy detailing and rehearsing his master plan to kidnap Camille Bartow, the 24 year old millionaire heiress to the Bartow’s fortune.
Bartow Securities Corporation was a multimillion dollar emporium owning a long list of successful ventures, such as the Bank of MidGeorgia, Servex Supermarkets, Bartow Publishers and its subsidiaries The Jacksonville Observer and The Columbia Enquirer, Uptown Ventures, MidAtlantic Airlines and other well known enterprises.
The services of Kevin Dulles were retained by Marvin Cobb, a disgruntled ex-executive of Bartow Securities who was terminated at the end of June 2004 on charges of incompetence, mismanagement and misuse of his company’s charge account. Charges he had dismissed as fabrications from his rival executives
who under direct instructions of the majority stockholder and CEO, Mr. Bartow, had orchestrated his termination.
Marvin Cobb’s instructions to Kevin Dulles were to abduct Ms. Bartow and keep her securely hidden in a location of his choosing, until the ransom money was paid up and safely delivered. After the abducted was appropriately returned to her family, Kevin Dulles was to receive 20% of the proceeds in cash, plus out of pocket expenses.
Kevin was giving the last touches to his elaborate plan to snatch the millionairess out of her twentieth floor condominium apartment on Brickell Avenue without being suspected of. On Wednesday August 25th, while engaged in his surveillance efforts his phone rang:
K: Yeah?
Hi Kevin!
K: Who is this?
This is Miguel, I am returning your call from last night.
K: Oh yeah….Mike, can you drop by my apartment in North Miami early tonight?
M: Sure Kevin, would 8 o’clock be OK with you?
K: Positive! See you then……
M: I’ll be there.
Miguel Cardenas, 34 was a long time Miami resident, Cuban refugee, unemployed landscaper who used to take care of Kevin’s lawn when he lived in another house located in South Miami. They had known each other for quite a few years.
At 8:00 PM sharp there was a knock on Kevin’s apartment front door:
K: Hey Mike…..come in please, how are you doing?
M: I am….how would you say?….eating a cable, this economy seem to be declining.
K: Yes, I know. I may have a profitable job for you.
M: Great…..I’d take anything…..what is it?
K: I need to take a hostage and keep her in a secure location for awhile.
M: I know a good motel down in the Keys.
K: Naw…..they would easily track us down there. I don’t trust any place around here, the fucking cops will be after our asses in no time. It would be better out of the country.
M: You mean…..like the Bahamas?
K: Now you’re getting the wave, like the Bahamas, but better.
M: Cuba is out of the question, Fidel would throw our asses in jail for the next twenty years.
K: Keep thinking.
M: Hey, wait a minute……I know the perfect place.
K: I knew you would come up with something. What kind of place is it?
M: Hey, there is no better: Puerto Plata in the Dominican Republic.
K: Are you kidding, the fucking Dominicans would give us away in no time.
M: Not the place I know…..have a lot of good friends hiding in there. I assure you, that place is real good my man. Everybody has
