Introduction
We’re living in a day of Basic Fitness
. It is said that a man’s aerobic capacity begins to decline at age 25 at a rate of 1 percent per year. At age 25 or 30, muscle strength begins to decline 1 to 2 percent per year.
Generally, between 25 and 50 years of age, you can expect to lose a half pound of muscle and gain one pound of fat per year. Bone loss in men begins around age 25 and declines about 3 percent per decade. This bone loss leads to fractures in old age.
It is said that warm-ups
are so important in our daily lives starting with 5 to 10 minutes of low-intensity exercise; such as walking, stationary cycling and light calisthenics. This will help increase muscle temperature and blood flow. You may be surprised at how fast your see results, especially if you combine exercise with a nutritious, low-fat diet.
Many of us don’t have time for long daily workouts. And that’s OK. But working for a reasonable level of fitness will make a difference in your health and appearance.
Let’s work to please God by being a good steward of the Body
He created for us. But, what about the spirit man? Well, that is the reason for this book.~ Spiritual Workout
.
The natural man (Body) always gets special attention. But, the real us (Spirit Man) is left behind starving, needing exercise in the Word of God. Needing exercise in prayer! Needing exercise in fellowship! Let’s get in shape in this God Given Book ~ Spiritual Workout
.
CHAPTER ONE
Spiritual Workout
For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds: casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ; and having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled.
II Corinthians 10:3-6
Our warfare is against spiritual forces of wickedness (Ephesians 6:12). Therefore, carnal weapons such as human ingenuity, talent, wealth, organizing ability, eloquence, propaganda, charisma and personality are in themselves inadequate to pull down the "strongholds" of Satan.
The only weapons adequate to destroy the fortresses of Satan, of unrighteousness and false teaching are those which God gives. These weapons are powerful because they are spiritual and come from "God".
Paul lists some of these weapons – commitment to truth, a life of righteousness, proclamation of the Gospel, faith, love, hope of salvation, the Word of God and persevering prayer (Ephesians 6:11-19; I Thessalonians 5:8). By using the weapons against the enemy, the Church will come forth victorious. That is, the presence and kingdom of God will be powerfully manifested in order to save sinners, cast out demons, sanctify believers, baptize them in the Holy Spirit and heal the sick.
The Church today is often tempted to meet the challenges of the world by carnal means and by the world’s weapons. i.e., by humanistic wisdom, philosophy, psychology, exciting attractions, church performances focused on entertainment, etc. These all too often serve as a substitute for the basic New Testament practices of intense prayer, serious meditation on the Word of God and
