    She tossed a garbage bag filled with some of my clothes out on the sidewalk and the door slammed shut in my face.  I knew I should have been more careful where I left that goddamn test.  I wailed and screamed on my knees, my face burning from the initial slap of Momma’s hand on my cheek.  The burning intensified from the saltiness of my tears.  I looked around and saw curious, nosey eyes through every window on the block.

    What the hell are y’all looking at?  I yelled.  The blinds snapped closed on every window and I could almost hear their judging words about me being discussed over every dinner table in town. 

    D’ya hear about Jacob and Donna’s girl? Uh-huh.  Knocked up.

    They kicked her out on the street. I saw the whole thing. Wonder what she’s gonna do.
