About this ebook
This easy step by step knitting pattern will help you make the cutest baby romper!
The pattern comes in several sizes: newborn (meant to be worn when the baby is just born – for the first two weeks; this is the size that is usually preferred by newborn photographers and most often used as a photo prop), 3-6 months, 6-12 months (if it is used in photography, photographers will often refer to this as “sitter size”, meaning, it is for a baby who can sit unassisted) and 12-18 months.
This pattern’s gauge is 18 stitches in 4 inches / 10cm over stockinette stitch. Please check the recommended needle size on your yarn label and make your gauge sample to make sure you end up making a romper that really fits!
You will need yarn, knitting needles to obtain the gauge (a part of the romper is knit flat, then a small part of it is knit in the round, and then it is knit flat again), a tapestry needle or to weave in the yarn ends and also the same tapestry needle to graft crotch stitches, a stitch holder or a piece of scrap yarn and two stitch markers. A crochet book if you are making crochet ties.
You will need up to 80 grams of yarn for the smallest newborn size, up to 90 grams for the 3-6m size, up to 100 grams for 6-12m size, up to 115 grams for 12-18m size.
Since the bib part of this is knit flat, you can use any knitting needles you like. I prefer using ether long circulars, or long straight “afghan” knitting needles. The lower part is knit in the round – so, you will need either double pointed needles or a circular needle to make a Magic Loop to make the lower part.
