Fasting for weight loss has the potential to backfire in some ways because, while you may skip a meal and consume no calories during that time, your next meal may be larger than usual. Fasting for weight loss makes you twice as hungry, so your next meal may be a big one because your stomach is empty. You might even consume more calories than you would if you hadn't skipped a meal. Fasting to lose weight can have a wide range of outcomes depending on the person doing it, so the success rate is entirely dependent on the person doing it.
