      Chapter One

      Time

      When you give someone your time, you are giving them a portion of your life that you’ll never get back.

      First and foremost is the time we give over to God. No matter how busy our lives are or how much time simply escapes us, we must find time to pray and read His Word. It is essential to our well-being. It is the foundation on which we build our lives. I’m not sure about you, but I look forward to my time with the Lord daily. It is like meeting with your very best friend for coffee. Of course, I’m only human, so there are times when it passes me by. Life is full of distractions and it sometimes seems there is not enough time in the day. If you’re like me – I have three children – between school, homework, sports, and everything in between, time often just disappears. The thing is, when I don’t find time for the Lord, I physically feel it. I feel lost and uncertain of my next move. When you give God the first portion of the morning, you set the tone for the rest of the day. He is our connection to feel Heaven.

      Besides time with God, it is also important to have time with family and friends. God gave each of us specific family and friends to surround us with love and happiness. God hand-picked your family, one by one. He has shown me that family comes in all forms. Not only through blood but in many different loving ways. Whether or not you’re born to live with the same parents, or in half families, step-families, adoption, with church family or friends, that is what is destined to become your family. It’s a body of people who come together to spend their time with one another. God blesses us with amazing people in our lives who show love, comfort, and encouragement. Love
