    The monster in Lulu's head (the tale of two spoons) is a semi autobigraphical tale loosely based on a young girl and her struggle to fight depression which takes on the form of a dark creature in her mind, occupying her every thought. She finds comfort in her best friend Juliet, who seems to be the only other person in her life who somehow, understands her. Juliet doesn't realize however that she is dealing with a very powerful monster of her own. Two little girls, confused, frightened and saddly missunderstood. Fighting something neither of them can see or explain. They help each other the only way they know how. They find light in the darkness as they develop courage and strength through knowledge, friendship, and a powerful unbreakable bond.

    My name is Lori Ozmun Rodrigues. I grew up in a small town called Roy Utah. I am the mother of six children. I'm married to Robert (Robby) Rodrigues and we live in Salt Lake City, Utah. I have suffered from severe depression and anxiety for my entire life. I was diagnosed for Post Tramatic Stress Disorder in August of 2010 due to extreme stress from outside sources and domestic abusive from my brief, second marriage in 2007 to a man I barely knew, For which I am currently and finally being treated.

      Introduction

      This little book started out as I left my Dr.’s office one day. I had just been diagnosed for severe PTSD. I’d been through the roughest couple years of my life and had some tragic thing’s take place in a short period of time.

      My Doctor encouraged me to write about it.

      Robby got online and found a course through my local library associated with the writing center. It was entirely geared at writing a fifty thousand word novel in thirty days. I’d always loved to write and he encouaged me to get ouside of my comfort zone. So with some coaxing from him and some friends, I agreed. I realized that being in a classroom setting might just be great therapy for me as well. So just like that, I was well on my way to rebuilding my life with interesting, new people.

      There was no college credits involved, it was meant to be just a fun class for anyone interested to push themselves into seeing if they could do it. As I looked around the small classroom, there were about twenty five to thirty of us. There were two teacher’s and they asked each of us to stand and talk about what we were going to write about. I felt my heart drop. One of the side effects of my PTSD was stuttering. In a roomful of people, how was I going to get through a sentence? There was a woman who had been an editor for over forty years and was also already an accomplished writer. Another woman, a proffessor who had come dressed as a man, said she was going to live twenty-four hours, seven days a week as a man and to write about that whole experience. Two young men who had already worked together on some successful projects. They were fresh out of college. Working with the latest smartest gadgets already typing faster than I could read. They had a great idea for a comic book series. Another woman with an MBA in business, already had written ten-thousand words into a romance novel. (no fair!) Every person who stood up intimidated me. These people all had their Doctorates, masters or at least bachelors degree in something. Another thing they all had it seemed to me, was the latest, smartest computer or equivelant. How dumb did I look showing up with a few pencils and a notebook? Other than some A.P. courses from High School, and some encouraging word’s from those teachers over twenty years ago, who did I think I was?

      The thought of slowly and quietly exiting the room and never returning did occur to me briefly. Then I asked myself what my biggest fear was. That I would stutter? Who cares? What if some people even found it funny and laughed at me. I smiled as I thought about what a ridiculous concern
