Born in London, Michael Dalling lives in Los Angeles and has travelled the world in his jobs as both a journalist and a publicity and marketing executive in the international film industry. In England, he wrote and produced a number of radio shows about films and directed film industry documentaries and interviews for television. Moving to LA, he established his own movie publicity company representing clients at the world’s leading film festivals. In the past few years, he has devoted his time to travel photography, including a three-month journey across Siberia and his recent visit to Cuba.

Old Havana
When the Spanish conquistadors first came to Cuba in the early sixteenth century they landed on the east and south coasts of the island. It wasn’t until some years later that an ideal natural harbor was discovered on the north-west coast where today the Straits of Florida enter the Gulf of Mexico. The harbor was large enough, and offered sufficient protection, to accommodate an entire fleet of Spanish ships and it was here that the island’s subsequent capital, Havana, was established.
Havana now has a population of more than two million ranging across a large area, but its heart is Habana Vieja, the old city, which adjoins the harbor. With its narrow streets and crumbling
