About this ebook
written in a local cafeteria. Many of the poems in this volume were first written
when Linwood was a ninth grader attending Southern Nash Senior High School in
Baily North Carolina. The original drafts were lost over the years, but the contents
remained with Linwood forever. They were simply recreated for this book. Each
poem is an original, and full of wisdom and curiosity. Some are simply funny but
always thought provoking. Linwoods hope is that everyone will find something in
this first book that strikes a chord for them.

Dedications
This book is dedicated to my darling wife Betty, who has always supported my dream of becoming an author. This book is also dedicated to my mother and father, Emanuel and Reatha Mae Williams, who had less than a high school education themselves, but instill in all of their children (Faye, Doris, Ted, Emanuel Jr., Linwood-LJ), who are all grown with families of their own, a drive to do their best. This book is dedicated to an amazing Grandfather who by all accounts had no formal education, but could read the Almanac and most other publications of his day, as well as anyone else. Finally, this book is dedicated to my eight grade teacher, Mrs. Little, who said to me one day after hearing a poem I wrote, I knew there was something special about you
. These comments have stayed with me over the years of my life. They have caused me to look again when others have turned away, to believe when everyone else had lost hope, and to be different if I had to in order to stand on what I believe.
