Jawaharlal Nehru; 1889 – 1964 was an Indian anti-colonial nationalist, profane humanist, social democrat and author who was a central figure in Bharat throughout the twentieth century. He was a principal leader of the Indian independence movement within the Thirties and Nineteen Forties. Upon India's independence in 1947, Nehru served as the country's prime minister for seventeen years. He promoted commonwealth, secularism, and science and technology throughout the Fifties, powerfully influencing India's arc as a contemporary nation. In affairs, he steered Bharat further from the 2 blocks of the conflict.
