The Seven C’s are: Care, Control, Competence, Conviction, Courage, and Consistency. You must practice all of these qualities to be a great FBI agent.

The author had told his classmates about his plans to join the FBI, and they couldn’t believe he wanted to do something like that. They questioned how he planned to live on a government salary.

Trainees who couldn’t pass the trigger pull were sent back to their local offices, where they would have to take the test again. Meanwhile, trainees who couldn’t pass the test were sent to the firing range, where they would have to holster their weapon and then ensure it was safe and empty before moving on.

The range also taught the class a lesson in humility and responsibility. You could tell a lot about someone by how thoroughly they picked up their brass. The code was working its way into the conscience of the class.
