The Dear
Series
What you're about to read is the Dear
Series. The Dear
series is all about turning your emotions into people. In all of these entries you get to learn more about how I perceive certain types of emotions. These poems are also written in a kind of letter style that really expresses a kind of conversation with said emotion. Please remember that some of these poems may not make sense to you, and that's OK. Just try to focus more on how you feel when reading this. Without further ado, let’s get on with the poems.
Dear Depression
Hey, it’s been a while since we last spoke.
I spoke with anxiety yesterday though.
She said that you had some business to discuss with me.
Believe me, I’m 100% fine.
I don’t need you to come back here and give me advice.
Your advice always sucks, BTW.
I was wondering, have you talked with Doubt and Worthlessness?
Doubt never seems to leave my side.
I mean, everything that happens to me, he’s always there.
And well, Worthlessness is like your best friend, right?
I mean, she even makes suicide jealous sometimes.
Ha, if only you could see what I mean.
Anyway, I’m writing this letter to you so that you know I don’t want to be friends anymore.
You make my life a living hell and honestly, I don’t want that.
I want to be happy and you make it hard.
I’m sorry to break it to you, but none of my friends like you.
As a matter of fact, no one likes you.
You hurt people and I will not stand for that.
I’m sorry, but this is goodbye.
Sincerely, Destiny
Dear Anxiety
Hey, I know we just talked today, like literally an hour ago, but I thought I should write to you, well, not to you, more like, at you.
I just finished writing a letter to depression and I thought, why not write one to you?
Though I’m worried that I might mess up when writing this one.
Look, I know that these past 2 weeks have been stressful for me, but I don’t always need you by my side.
In fact, you make it worse.
They are telling me to believe that my friends are against me, or that the world is going to end in a fiery pit of rage or something like that.
The truth is that you are worse than depression; in fact, I believe that you are the real issue, not depression.
Damn.
You make me have panic attacks on the reg and expect me to forgive you for that.
Hell no, I'm not going to let you walk into my life and ruin everything that I have.
I’m sorry, but you need to really calm down.
Maybe do
