Calculated Entropy: A Random Access Dream
By Maniacal Mel

About this ebook
Perhaps it's the strange little story of a strange little guy's life. It might or might not slip in and out of a dream state. Perhaps he is being devoured by a great beast and this is a vision of his life flashing before him -or a vision of the life he might have had.
Could it all be the brainwashing of the Manchurian Candidate? Perhaps he survived his encounter with the first beast only to wind up trapped in the lair of another. Perhaps it's all just the daydream of a child and the character's untimely demise at the end is merely his mother calling to him, snapping him out of it. Maybe it's none of the above. You decide just what it's trying to say
It's a novella written in poems.
It's a concept album without the music.
It's a bird- it's a plane, it's-

Calculated Entropy - Maniacal Mel
It’s All in Your Mind
Just pick a name
Any name will do
And I’ll write a poem about it for you
It isn’t that hard
If you know when to bend
And when to just let it stretch out to the end
It’s all in your mind
Or is it in mine?
They seem to have somehow become intertwined
I can’t take you there
I just point out the way
And you decide just what I’m trying to say
Five Again
Down in the sandbox the weather’s fine
And it’s recess all the time
Nothing to do
No homework’s due
And everyday’s a holiday
A vacant lot behind every house
With no authority about
Couldn’t care less
If you’re a mess
And all you have to do is play
Will the summer ever end?
If it does we’ll just pretend
We’re on an island in the sun
With Gilligan and all his friends
The day before kindergarten was fine
You didn’t have to be anywhere on time
The day before kindergarten was fun
But seemed to be over ’fore it had begun
A tire swing over every creek
Who cares if your canoe leaks
With no dismay
About yesterday
Tomorrow or much less next week
Up in the tree-stand where time stands still
Always pies on the window sill
No one to say
That you can’t just play
Till your time as a child slips away
Caravan
Life is change
Isn’t it strange
Only stays the same when it’s dead
Time is short
Or so we’re all taught
But somehow keeps moving ahead
Life is death
Beyond the last breath
Won’t know till the hammer drops
Time is long
When you got it wrong
But somehow it never stops
Time waits for no man
But is glad to give one a ride
On board a caravan
That is bound for the other side
Life is grand
According to plan
That’s tirelessly running it’s course
Time will cease
When you are released
Becoming one with the universe
Autumnal
I am the autumn leaves falling
I tumble
Roll
Drop to the ground
I am the harsh wind blowing
I gather
Blast
Knock houses down
I am lost in deepest waters
I sputter
Cough
Then I drown
Life’s cycle is not over
It’s just complete
Before the color’s faded
It’s at your feet
Time’s message not comprehended
Merely received
Before the clock stops ticking
We take our leave
I am the darkness falling
I threaten
Obscure
Then kill the sky
I am the black rain forming
I grumble
Scream
Proceed to cry
I am the old man fading
I stutter
Laugh
Then I die
Life’s cycle is not over
It’s just complete
Before the color’s faded
It’s at your feet
Time’s message not comprehended
Merely received
Before the clock stops ticking
We take our leave
Give and Take
I stepped into the night
Never knowing wrong from right
Sometimes you gotta live
Sometimes you gotta die
Sometimes you know the answers
Sometimes you wonder why
Sometimes you gotta leave
Sometimes you gotta stay
Sometimes you leave ’em wonderin’
Sometimes give it away
I leapt into the fray
Not knowing if I could stay
I see you
Lookin’ at me
Lookin’ at you
Seein’ me
I see you
Lookin’ at me
Lookin’ at you
Seein’ me
I came back from beyond
Never knowing where I’d gone
Sometimes you gotta give
Sometimes you gotta take
Sometimes get it precisely
Sometimes make a mistake
Sometimes you gotta rise
Sometimes you gotta fall
Sometimes get what you wanted
Sometimes nothing at all
I stepped into the light
Starting to see wrong from right
Anger
Driven on by hatred, fear and loathing
Escalating onward to the kill
Up through clouds of reason, doubt and wisdom
Cast it all aside for primal thrill
Laughs of pain are singing to the ocean
Raining down upon oblivion
Drowning all who answer for the madness
Pelted down on life’s forgotten son
Never reflecting
Never unsure
Always convinced it is so damn mature
Never expecting
Truth to be
