MY SWEET EM
My sweet Em.
You’re the strongest, toughest, baddest,
Woman alive!
You’ll beat this cancer,
You have your husband, your son.
Your brother, your moms, your nana,
Your aunts and uncles.
You have your cousins, your niece,
Your friends who are like family,
You’ll always have us.
Your dad’s spirit is with you.
His love will surround you,
The same as all of ours will.
We are all here for you no matter what for.
To talk, to cry, to laugh, to yell.
To listen or sit with you and hold you.
You can call on any of us anytime of the day or night.
We will all be here for you, forever.
My sweet Em.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY BABY
You’re the one.
The one who knows me best.
The one who tolerates me.
The one who likes me.
The one who has never hurt me.
You’re the one and only man I love with all my heart,
My soul,
My being.
You’re the one who loves me for me.
I love you,
Always only you.
Happy birthday, baby!
FATHER-IN-LAW
My dad couldn’t be there that special day.
So I asked my fiancée’s dad to step in.
He had no daughters, only four sons.
And almost thirty years ago,
He escorted me down the aisle
To marry his son.
On that day, he not only became my
Father-in-law, but my second dad.
And anchored himself in my heart.
GONE
He’s gone.
A beloved man
By many,
Family, friends,
Even strangers.
He’s gone.
STRENGTH
Now’s the time.
He needs me,
My strength.
To get him through this most difficult time.
They need me,
I’ll dig deep
I’ll find my strength
To be there for my family.
My mother-in-law,
My brother-in-law,
My nieces and nephews.
But mostly,
My husband.
BEATING HEART
Shattered, crumbled, burnt,
Ripped to shreds,
Shredded, stomped, broken,
Dissolved into nothingness.
It was destroyed.
And yet,
It’s still here.
My beating heart.
Pounding fiercely within my chest.
Racing when you hold me.
Fluttering when
