      You found this book, or this book found you, but either way, you made the decision to read this book because something isn’t working in your current state. You are ready to make a change when it comes to getting promoted or getting a different job. You feel off and you want to make a change. Staying in the job that you are currently in is getting increasingly uncomfortable or you have a feeling inside that something is off or out of alignment. If you feel like you have done everything, and you are still not progressing in your career the way you want to, then keep reading. I have the answer for you.

      Let’s be clear as we start out; this book is focused on staying with the company, community, or organization that you are currently with. There are numerous books about getting jobs outside of your company, but this book is solely focused on staying where you are and elevating into the next role that you want. If you are the person who wants to take the subsequent step in your career path but have been faced with obstacles, setbacks, and losing a job to someone else, then you are in the right place and this book is meant for you.

      If you feel like you are SOOO READY to make a move into that next role that you have been thinking about, dreaming about, and talking to friends and family about for the past six months, past year, or even the past five years, then I have the answer for you.

      Let me guess, you have so much to offer—you have a TON of great ideas and can’t wait to share them and implement them with the organization once you land that promotion. In my experience, I have found that this is one of the most under talked about areas in an organization.       The focus of our conversation is staying and growing within the organization that you currently work for because you are happy, have a secure feeling under the umbrella of the company, and feel good about being employed at your organization. While the principles that I teach are applicable to staying within your organization or looking outside your organization, for the purposes of this book, I will be focusing on staying within your company and getting promoted.

      I will teach you about the power of changing a few small things within your relationships and that will secure pathways to your next role. This book is NOT about networking, but it is about teaching a few small things that can change your life and your career trajectory forever and that will land you a seat on the Invisible Bench. You will soon learn to fall in love with the process of getting your next job and being that Boss Man or Boss Lady in your own life. You will learn the concept of the Invisible Bench, and once you land a seat on it, it will change your outlook on everything.

      I know networking is a scary word for some, an overused word for others, and a dreaded concept to even think about for all those introverts out there …We will reinvent the way you connect with others and the meaning behind it. We will make it fun, attainable, and not out of reach. I promise, whether you are in sales, marketing, research, a writer, an accountant, an engineer, a doctor, a lawyer, a mailroom clerk, a mid-level manager, a mechanic, or a customer service representative, everything I teach can apply to you at all experience levels and all pay grades.

      Let me annoyingly repeat myself one more time. This book is not about networking; I am not talking about networking in the traditional sense that most people think about.

      Look at it like casting a wide net around the people within your sphere of influence that you are already working with and making that net work for you!

      It doesn’t mean that you must go to random uncomfortable events or parties and make small talk with people that you have nothing in common with and pretend that you are interested in their cat stories, weekend airport delay dramas, or garage sale finds. No! In fact, this book is the exact opposite. This book will teach you the easy how to steps to going from Point A to Point B and ensure that you get the job you want. It will make net-working (making the net work for you) within your organization set you up to land you in that next role. A few small tweaks and you will never be the same.

      Many people work for companies and organizations they are happy with and look forward to building a long-term future with.
