Dedication
I am dedicating this book to my late husband, Mack Dean Stuart. He was a godly man who always supported me in my writing endeavors. He was also a person who deeply loved his family. His heart was one of the largest places I have ever lived. I am greatly encouraged by the fact that life never ends and love never dies,
I’ll see you in the morning!

The adage Blood is thicker than water
(accredited to the Scottish poet Sir Walter Scott, 1815), has proven to be accurate as I thank the following cousins who have enriched my life greatly:
Debbie Haught, who is always upbeat and witty. Debbie pulled me through one of the most difficult times of my life. Because of her, I realize that God is mindful of me. Debbie moved close by when I was about to embark on the journey of cancer and the death of my husband. My husband, children and grandchildren adore her.
I will always be especially grateful for my cousin Mavis Perez Vargas (Rice-Haught). She has been there for me my entire life. Her husband, Mario Perez Vargas, deserves a thank you for believing in me and encouraging me to write my memoirs. (Mavis and Mario have always been there for my children and grandchildren.)
Becky and Jack, thanks for the hospitality, the pool parties, and pro bono work. A special shout out to Linda Haught Ortega for keeping records of family history.
Thanks to Cheryl D., my childhood friend and college roommate, for all the laughs, and to Tiffany Noel for her sense of humor. At one point, Tiffany and I stayed in a motel with a friend who asked us to pipe down late one night. We rushed into the bathroom, closed the door, sat on the tub, and laughed again. Both ladies and cousin Debbie remind me of Proverbs 17:22, A merry heart doeth good like a medicine.
I have been blessed over and over by Pastor John Miller, who modeled how kind and thoughtful a man with a faithful pastor’s heart can be. I will always carry this with me.
I am incredibly grateful to my Bible study leader and former Senior Pastor, Doug Denee, and his precious wife, Sheree, for helping me through the desert journey as a new widow.
Sheree taught me an amazing way to pray using ACTS as a prompt. A is for adoration, C is for confession, T is for thanksgiving and S for supplication. When I struggle with prayer or wake up in the middle of the night not knowing what to do with myself, I remember ACTS and begin praying.
Psalm 100:4, Enter into his gates with thanksgiving and into his courts with praise: be thankful to him, and praise his name.
And God put a woman named Kathy C. in my life who mentored me in her kind way.
I am indeed thankful to the Lord for Alice and Carlos Alianza. They have seen me through many of the trials
