Perfect if you're a van Gogh fan. 2-3 min walk from the van Gogh and rijk museums. Very friendly staff, clean tidy rooms and great shower. It's a no frills hotel so don't expect the ritz. What you do get is clean friendly warm cheap place to staff. Gladly stay again

Liked: Property conditions & facilities
So central to everything. Nice people and nice room although it took a lot hear it up
We were a family of 4 staying in the same room in 4 single beds, the room was clean and there was lots of room for all our stuff, the beds were comfy.
The area was great for us as it wss just outside the main city centre but still walkable, there were lots of places to eat and a supermarket within 5/10 minutes walk.
We had breakfast included and although not lots of options was good value for money.

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service, amenities
Great location literally 2 minutes’ walk from the Van Gogh Museum. The room was fine for our needs but the double bed was small & was in the eves on the top floor so not good if you are tall & sit up in bed! There was a Nespresso machine in the room which was restocked with supplies daily as well as daily cleaning. Very central to all the sights in Museumplein as well as excellent tram & bus links. Found an excellent Italian trattoria “Toto” about a 10 minute walk away.
Amazing locations close to all museums and other attractions

Hotel Van Gogh is brilliantly located for access to the Van Gogh and Rijks Museums, and old Amsterdam. The Amsterdam Airport Express drops and picks up very nearby on Paulus Potter street which is ideal. The neighbourhood is reasonably quiet.
The hotel itself is disappointing. The images on the website show rooms with big windows but the rooms on the 4th floor have very narrow windows and feel like an attic. The room was very cramped with 3 beds and very tired decor. It also needed a more thorough clean and more options for lighting because the ceiling light was extremely bright. The air conditioning wasn't working when we were there so it was very stuffy too. Breakfast was ok, plenty of options to suit different preferences. Left luggage facility was very useful.
Very convenient location right by tram lines and museums. Room was small but not too cramped. Breakfast, for 15 euros, was unimpressive. Otherwise, everything was fine, for a very reasonable price.
There are many excellent things about this hotel - location, museums and transport right at the doorstep, clean, spacious, comfortable. The only negative is that the hotel is situated in a school playground - literally! So there were kids screaming for hours straight at the front of the hotel which then carried up into the rooms like as if the windows are open! Same for late evening - passers by making lots of noise after midnight.
The room was clean and reasonably comfortable. The staff were a bit stand off ish but that could just be a cultural difference. Personally I didn’t like the pillows but that is just a matter of personal taste. My only other complaint is that there is a bit of noise from the school across the street during the day but it wasn’t that bad and the street is closed to traffic so it is a bit of a trade off. Overall it was a good hotel in a great area for the museums and only meters from a tram station and only a few blocks from where the airport bus drops you. I would recommend Hotel Van Gogh.
The reception staff were fantastic... very very helpful, pleasant and responsive. Unfortuntely our room was very hot (no effective air conditioning) but worse - bathrroom poorly cleaned, with mould on shower frames, around basin and brown stains at bottom of toilet bowel -all readily removable with some cleaning elbow grease and some off the shelf chemicals.
We enjoyed our two night stay at Hotel Van Gogh. Our beds were comfortable, the bath/shower was very clean as was the room. The front desk staff was friendly and helpful especially Alexandra who help not only with our room but also dinner reservations and arranging taxis for us. Also Jerry in maintenance who fixed my friends mobility scooter twice. The hotel’s location is perfect for visiting the museums and taking a canal cruise. We would stay here again and recommend this hotel to others.
