"I want to start off by saying I had a nice visit, I did the half board option and the food was plentiful and very tasty. Lots of variety, the sushi was not good and their take on Western food isn't great but the Japanese food is awesome. 2 different Onsen areas that alternate gender daily so you can try both. The hotel is old, let's just prepare you for this, really old. It could do with a massive makeover but I doubt it will happen as they are very busy due to the amazing location. If you are...
"Very closed to the bus station, which was about 5 mins walk. The hotel is building with old architecture, but with modern updates. It was an easy check-in process. Our room was really nice and spacious. The room was clean, but my blank had a small stain on the blanket. The wifi is really good. There is a public onsen on the lower floor for guests to enjoy. We reserved a 45 mins private onsen for 3200 yen. It was well worth it! The room was roomy and clean. It has a private shower and bathroom....
"The room was beyond expectation. Comfortable beds, the view is fantastic, we really enjoyed the tub in the bathroom. The onsen in the hotel is clean and you can enjoy some
relaxing time.Just a few minutes walk to town to restaurants and shopping.

"This is a very beautiful ryokan. It has gone through renovations so the interior is new and modern, but it has also retained the charms of a ryokan with tatami floors, indoor gardens etc. The room is very big and well heated. I wish I had more time to hang around the ryokan!
We had a half board, which includes dinner and breakfast. There was a good spread of local food, I got to try quite a few new food items that I haven't had before.
A private onsen can be booked for an additional charge,...
"Property is about 10 mins walk from the Bus station and Hotel does not provide shuttle to and fro, hence it is inconvenient to pull fhe luggage during winter time to the hotel. The back door of the hotel helps for quick access to the Yubate. Morning and Dinner buffet offer a very good spread but there is no need to book half board for more than 1 night as menus are largely the same. "
"The staff was really nice. We got free milk and it was only ¥100 for extra bottles if milk, which are a MUST when taking an onsen. We had a private onsen in our room, but there were also public onsen in the hotel! Everything was super clean and the hotel is located close to the bus-terminal."
"We loved it here. The resort is amazing. The room was a good size. The view was fantastic. Close to the Yubatake, Kusatsu Gate foot bath, restaurants, and markets. They have a free shuttle to the center of town, Yubatake. Also, a shuttle to the bus stop when you go back. Plus, the free big onsen is amazing. You can also use two other hotels' onsens, but Kusatsu Onsen Hotel Resort's is the biggest and nicest. They provide a yukata for use while you're there, which is nice if you want to take...
"Good location, close to the yubatake. Hotel is modern, looks new and clean, however did find mould on the shower floor. Meals not a strong suit. Great stay overall."
"Very enjoyable experience. Loved Kusatsu and La Vista was a great place to stay with shuttle busses running through the day to both the bus stops and down town. "
"Staff were helpful and friendly, but we only spoke in Japanese so not sure if they accommodate guests from abroad very often. Food was ample and tasty (traditional Japanese foods) and served in the privacy of the room.
Pillows are traditional Japanese style (small and somewhat hard) so I would recommend bringing your own pillow if you prefer a larger and softer pillow.
Website is not clear, but rooms have sinks and toilets, but the bath (onsen style) is shared. Ample parking and great...
"the hotel is very nice and the bed is super comfortable. I give 5 star to everything. my only suggestion is that the breakfast can be added with more nutrition value. there was no egg nor fish, a lot of rice. I can see it might be something traditional, but could use more protein. "

A private onsen can be booked for an additional charge, about 3300 yen - Great for travellers who prefer or are unable to use the public bath.
The ryokan is located almost right in the middle of Kusatsu onsen where all the shops and attractions are.
The only unfortunate experience we had was communication with the staff regarding parking. When we checked in, the staff told us that we would be able to extend our parking at their premises for a few hours beyond the default time of 12pm by topping up for another day's worth of parking fees. However, on the day of the checkout, another staff told us that it was impossible to extend. Not an unpleasant experience, but it would be better the staff were on the same page."

Highly recommend. Some tips. Don't walk in the hotel with your shoes or sneakers. There are sandals that you can walk outside the streets with. It's located in the lockers with the keys when you entered the hotel. If you want to walk around the hotel you can walk with your socks or the staff can you give a sandals. Breakfast is a buffet. Limited selections, and you have to make a time slot rsvp. They bar closed around 10pm. We loved our one night stayed. We would come back again!"
