Muntri Mews

3.5 star property
9.2 out of 10, Wonderful, (187)
"Always try to stay in a heritage or local hotel. Feels like a living museum, so you will hear some creaks and light neighbourhood noise, but that's the beauty of staying somewhere that has personality and satisfies those who are curious about life. As well as the Mews cafe and shady courtyard, there are many places to eat and enjoy coffee in the immediate area. The staff are welcoming and helpful. Thank you for a lovely and safe stay. "Gorgeous little heritage boutique hotel, decorated with an eclectic mix of old and modern pieces of artwork. Bedroom and bathroom were huge and the breakfast, served in their restaurant, was excellent. Staff was wonderful and always very helpful! Location was perfect! "

Campbell House

3.5 star property
9.8 out of 10, Exceptional, (377)
"A delightful stay in the heart of old town. Each room is a unique individual creation with vintage furnishings. The breakfast is amazing and the staff is knowledgeable and helpful. Everyday the chef creates a special desert and delivers it to each of the twelve boutique rooms. A must stay if you are going to Georgetown, Malaysia. "

Mclane Boutique Hotel

3.0 star property
8.8 out of 10, Excellent, (35)
"Not so much a boutique hotel as a better-than-average cheapie. Many rooms are windowless (not unusual for Malaysia) and the place is basically a reasonably well kept low-rise guesthouse, part of the multi-year gentrifaction of central George Town. Good in terms of nearby eating options and walkability."

Loop On Leith Hotel Penang

3.0 star property
8.0 out of 10, Very good, (71)
"The property has been recently renovated and the bedroom was of a good size and the hotel is within walking distance to the main touristic attractions in Penang. The room in each we stayed was in the left side of the hotel, and at 6.15 am in the morning we would wake up with the prayers at the mosque. Breakfast is continental style - you can order omelettes, scrambled eggs or fried eggs cooked to order, there's tea, coffee and orange juice available, a hot station with Asian style noodles...

Hotel Hong Ping

3.0 star property
7.0 out of 10, Good, (37)
"The location is good. Staff are helpful. The washroom is a huge problem. No shower curtain or door. So the floor becomes wet and very inconvenient. No housekeeping the whole 4 days stay. So continuously living in filthy conditions. Had to take out our own garbage. Also because no housekeeping and no phone in room, had to keep going to the reception to ask for simple things like toilet papers and fresh towels. No fridge, had to use fridge at the reception. Won’t really recommend unless you are on...

Memphis by Journal Georgetown

3.0 star property
7.0 out of 10, Good, (2)
"A beautiful restored shophouse. Very welcoming staff and very clean common areas. The rooms can get a bit warm in the afternoon as part of the roof is covered in zinc and conducts heat directly into the room. Bed is located in the attic which can be a slight inconvenience but it adds to the overall charm of the place. Toilets are small and poky but still good enough for me. For the price, I would still recommend this place for those seeking something out of the ordinary. "

Super OYO 998 Queen City Hotel

2.0 star property
6.4 out of 10, (16)
"Friendly staff greeted us and available 24 hours. Very nice people. The room and beds were comfortable but the bathroom had a lot of black mould that needs bleaching/removal. I also had to clean the toilet properly before using. Fantastic location for the street art trail, food, the jetty and public transport links. "

Georgetown Heritage Motel

3.0 star property
3.0 out of 10, (2)
"Check in is not at the motel but at the restaurant 3 businesses down the street. I showed the woman at the cash register my reservation and that I had paid for the "suite" room but wanted to downgrade my room based on what I paid (so beware of using a free night or gift card for booking). Literally everything in the room was filthy! The towels had what one can only hope are curry stains, the walls were covered in dirt, every cm of the restroom was covered in mold so we didn't even want to...
