This hotel is housing Afghani refugees on the first two floors. Hotel patrons are on floors above that. Great breakfast!! One of the best I've ever seen. There was a self serve Nespresso coffee machine. The flat white I had was amazing.
The bed was super comfortable. Room was clean. Bathroom was nice. I believe this hotel is also being used to house new Canadians which meant you had to be extra cautious in the parking lot as kids were playing in the parking lot freely aswell as running up and down the halls. Our solid curtains didn’t close so we had the parking lot light shining into our room as we slept.
This was our first time here and it was the worst hotel experience we have ever had. This was our engagement weekend. The second day there our fire alarm randomly started going off. We had no idea why and no staff even cared to find out why. We kept turning on the heat/fan and it would continue going off. We were told they would have someone come look at it and they never did. At 5am we got woken up to it going off yet again. We called down stairs and they shut it off. 5 mins later did it again 2 more times. When I went down stairs to find out what was going on I was told that it wasn't even showing down stairs. They attempted to turn it off and couldn't. Her solution was to wait till 9am for maintenance to start working. I asked her ti call a supervisor and when she did that supervisor told her you woke me up don't call me again. Yet I was woken up and given 0 solutions. I was offered a new room but I would have to then pay more for it. This was the worst experience I've ever had. I would never go here again. The staff that was working had 0 idea how to even do her job. She kept saying she would do something and then never did it. She kept trying to ignore and avoid me Save your money.
No rooms available booking not sent to them even though I had confirmation number

Disliked: Staff & service
The hotel overbooked and cancelled our reservation without notice. They blamed it on hotels.com. This has never happened before. I read that it happened to someone else. I think the hotel just rented the room out to make more money. I was stuck trying to find another hotel last minute. Terrible service.
Liked the hotel overall. I’ve stayed in a few in the area, this one was by far the most quiet.
I did find the water in the room to be scalding right away, had to run for a bit to get a cooler temperature. The pool however was unpleasantly cold. Other than those couple things, it was great.
The hotel was booked and paid in full through Expedia. At check-in, they could not find the reservation. They proceeded in charging for the room again without my authorization. They asked to take a deposit of $100 and then took full payment for the room, in effect getting a double payment. I wasted hours trying to get them to correct it, and still waiting for my double charge to be resolved. This was a horrible place, every employee had a different story, I don’t know who was being honest with me. At check-out, I was told that they explained that they had cancelled my reservation, never advising Expedia or me. Will never stay at a Best Western again. The overall hotel premises, the hallways were littered with food wrappers. Did not try the complimentary breakfast, it was too annoying to be on their premises. Strongly advise that you do not go to this place.
1. When I tried to check in there was no record of my reservation - luckily there was still a room available at the same rate.
2. Took at elevator to the 2nd floor with two pieces of heavy luggage, only to find I still had to negotiate a flight of stairs to get to my room
3. Got to the room but the key card didn't work. The Expedia emails didn't have a telephone number for the hotel. Had to get the number from 411, It rang for over three minutes and ...no answer. Finally got through - a front desk staff came with another key - it didn't work either. Got in with the master key. Then the staff reprogrammed the door - still didn't work, so ended up without a useable key, and told I could get someone from the front desk whenever I wanted in my room. Sheesh!
4. Notice the room was warm - 25 degrees. Tried to adjust, Set to cool and 22 degrees, temp went up to 27. The window would only crack open 2 inches.
5. There were kids running up and down the hall and a lot of garbage piled up in the hall.
6. The TV did not have all the TSN channels, so was unable to watch the Rugby World Cup match on TSN 5 between Canada and the USA.
7. Tried to upload 400 photos - the Internet download and upload speeds were only 5.0MB/s and 4.8MB/s respectivbely - and they call it high speed Internet!
8. The only good things about this stay was a got a parking space very close to the front doors, and it was convenient to Laurier University where I attended football game and a rugby match.
Location on the north side of Waterloo made it easy to visit all those quaint villages like St Jacobs nearby. Easy to access Kitchener. BWP was good value for money (as usual).
When we went to check into our room at 11:30pm we were told that they were overbooked for the night and we didn’t have a room. Apparently someone was “supposed to call us” but never did. Huge disappointment as we had to book somewhere further last minute and pay over $120.00 more.

Not very considerate or accommodating
We got there at 3:15, I am a Hotels.com gold member so thought I'd get early check in. The gentleman at the counter said they didn't have any rooms ready and asked us to come back a little later, check in is at 4:00 so that wouldn't really make it an early check in. We asked about the pool and the hot tub, apparently the hot tub is being repaired which was very disappointing and the pool was very cool. This was one of the deciding factors for choosing this hotel so again very disappointing. If we had know this earlier, we would have chosen another hotel. This stuff should be disclosed earlier. We got back and they gave us a room so we went to check it out. I'm sure they gave us a disability room, and we didn't really require one. We noticed that there was no tub in the bathroom so before we brought our stuff down I went to the front desk to ask if they could switch our room to one with a tub. I explained to them that my husband is a vet and his way of dealing with stress is to "have a soak in a tub". They told us that they were sold out and were waiting for people to check in. I asked if we could switch it for my husband as it is a "health" issue with him and they were not willing to do it. I was very angry that they wouldn't consider a vet's needs but that's the type of establishment it seems to be. On leaving we also noticed that the "Best Western" flag was flying higher than the Canadian flag and mentioned that. Let's see if they rectify that. Same on them!!!
