This is a grand old hotel that has an air of faded grandeur. The building and position is impressive and the interior decoration looks to have been refurbished recently and to a good standard.
The bathroom however was poorly appointed - the cheapest of toilet seats, a cheap ill fitting shower curtain, taps that were not properly fitted wobbled in their mounts and were difficult operate and a large chip in the wash basin that had been botch repaired with poly-filler.
The bedroom itself ,although relatively small , was comfortable and adequate save for the total lack of hotel and local area information .
This seems to be a feature of many hotels since COVID.
Nevertheless list of guest facilities, breakfast times and local attractions would have made our stay much better
The hotel bar is now a rowdy "sports bar" with slot machines , pool table and TV screens on every wall showing UFC matches. Not conducive to a pleasant pre -dinner drink.
The breakfast buffet is just about adequate provided you like a small selection of fried food. Very little for the healthy eater and a poor selection of beverages.
Apart from one or two exceptions the service was only just adequate with some staff members appearing offhand and disinterested.
With only a little more effort this hotel could regain some of it's past glory
While from the outside the property was very grand and a lot of the common areas were amazing, the overall experience was terrible. There were empty takeaway containers left on the stairs, black mold in the bathrooms and a general smell of damp in the rooms. The only bright spots were the staff friendly and helpful.
Bath tub the enamel was damaged and the tub looked black dirty. The bathroom itself requires sprucing up like fresh sealant, rerouting the tiles etc. staff was nice just need to get some maintenance done around the hotel
Very grand hotel with a lot of history, even stories about ghosts that haunt mainly the 3 rd floor. The floor we were on lol. We couldn't fault the cleanliness and helpfulness and politness of the staff. Didn't have chance to look around at this vast hotel but will definitely stay there again as being right in the middle of Liverpool and such a good price what more could you ask for !

Liked: Staff & service, amenities
Dirty towells (Fecies) and someone had urinated into the telephone, but we complained and the manager was excellent and moved us to a nicer room on 6th floor.
The only downside is that the room was so hot we couldn’t sleep and the toilet seat was broken which I reported and felt convinced this would have been dealt with. Otherwise nice and convenient
Was put in a room with no heating only fit for Eskimos quickly got a replacement room but the TV wasn't working in it the problems were sorted out but the damage had been done you'd think they would check the rooms are ok before letting them out
I have stayed in this hotel a few times now amd i dont know if i would use any other hotel in liverpool the staff are friendly and if you need anything at all they have it there for you it says you need request fan iron iron board amd hair dryer but they have always been in the rooms ive stayed in
Overall it was a good stay for our 14 day visit. My only plight was the condition of our first room had a missing window pane and resulted in a very cold room. The hotel would then change our room in less then 24 hours.
After our room change we had a much greater room but lacked certain amenities like control of the heater weaker plumbing.
It's in a great location mind you and great for anyone looking to experience the heart of liverpool and it's culture.
Staff was great and very helpful. Will definitely be coming again in future.
Not the best place to stay for a special occasion. Don’t be fooled by the nice look. Right next to loud nagging music that goes on to 4am. Not relaxed. The bath had terrible holes in and marks and the cleanliness wasn’t the best
The Adelphi is unique and its public rooms are impressive, historic and luxurious.
The bedrooms themselves are in need of decoration and the bathrooms are in poor condition.
We had an excellent Christmas lunch in the Crompton Restaurant and the breakfast was good.
