Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service
Outbound is conveniently located in town, but the inside of what was the old Sierra Nevada hotel is definitely dated (carpet, paint, etc). The rear parking lot is in desperate need of refinishing. The rooms were clean, and the beds were very comfortable. The lobby is also very cozy to hang out in. I would stay there again depending on the price.
The dry & wet saunas were amazing after a day on the slopes. Front desk staff were friendly and helpful. Common areas were spacious, inviting, a beautifully decorated. We have already decided to stay here again when we come back to Mammoth!
Amazing spot for Mammoth, very cozy and no hassle. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Awesome to have firepits around the property and felt more upscale than the price I paid. Will be back here everytime from now on.
Had a pretty mediocre time at Outbound Mammoth. The hotel is newly renovated and parts of it are still under construction. The rooms are decent and the decor and vibe of the hotel are cute, but there's some stuff that needs serious attention. To use the sauna, we had to walk through an actual construction area with bins and stray raw materials and saw dust…not the most relaxing experience haha.
The walls are thin and the people next door to our room were partying with really loud, bass-y music. We had to call down to the front lobby a couple times to ask them if they could give our neighbors a heads up. They were still being really loud at 2:15am which was rough because we had an early day on the mountain ahead of us. Since a lot of people are there to ski/snowboard, it would be helpful if they had some kind of quiet hours policy so you could count on getting some good rest.
We ate at the Sierra bar and the staff were really nice and the space was really lovely. However the food was flavorless and overcooked. I would go again for drinks but not food.
All in all, not staying here again. Seems like the new decor is a bandaid for an otherwise low quality experience. Plenty of other places in town!
Stayed in older part of hotel and was fine for a reasonably priced getaway. Nice, rustic communal area. Location is very central. Nice staff. Ownership needs to sort out parking a little better. Newer chalets look nice.
