Nice place to getaway from the city. Not much things to do around the hotel. A place to go to if you like to chill and relax. Weather is generally cool. There is only a vegetarian restaurant serving buffet lunch/dinner at a fixed price and no other food options and no convenient store too.
The Borneo Highlands are amazingly calm and a peaceful quiet place to relax and unwind. The god course area is nice along with the accommodation.
The room is nice, basic but nice as it's clean and comfortable. The meals were good and good portions. The massage at the Spa was well priced and good.
Do make a visit to the Kalimantan View which is within the property and shares a border with Indonesia. You be within inches of the Indonesia border line.
This hotel is mixed bag. On one hand, I dare you to a more beautiful location that allows such easy access to the rainforest. Truly stunning vistas, especially from the Kalimantan lookout at 3200 feet on the property that gives wide views of Indonesia Kalimantan. The room was very comfortable, with great windows and a traditional look and feel with a stunning bath (no tub). I greatly enjoyed my room. The Internet was also not bad for being in the middle of the jungle. The spa was nice, if small and the food was vegetarian, but tasty and with great variety. I really enjoyed "being in the jungle." The golf course was in a great shape. Now for the down side: the hotel/development was clearly part of some grand scheme that has failed to take off. Only about 5% of the property lots were sold, so parts of the area have the "not finished construction site look." Luckily the jungle is busy reclaiming the unsold lots. The common areas need a spruce up. They are not dingy or dirty; the housekeeping staff cleans the place very well, its just that everything looks twenty years old. The food is great, the front desk staff is great, the servers in the restaurant are not good. Yet, as you are in the dining room with is open and richly detailed with wood and carvings, you feel as if you are in the a true Dayak longhouse (a luxury one). I hope the hotel can stay open. More guests should make the journey up the mountain and into the rainforest. The nearby Sarawak Forest is great for orangutans
Food is good for vegetarian, scenery view is nice. Not too many tour choices unless you are there for golf. Many facilities are shamefully lack of maintenance. Staff is friendly
The highlands atmosphere was great - fresh & cooling. The place was quiet & good for relaxing. It is actually a 18-hole golf course but the occupancy is very low. In fact, there were only my family - 4 pax during our stay. Hence the choice of food was kind of limited. But the serving and taste were good. Viewing the Kalimantan border was thrilling. My children went for a safe & interesting jungle trekking (many leeches) & night safari (did not see much). Overall is a good place to go for relaxation of body & mind.
View is good, fresh air.. weather cold only if no sun shine, if not will be warm. Have to bring our own meals ( buns, chips, noodles & cookies) cos they only have vegetarian restaurant and I don't like that kind of food. But I don't like the hotel, too old don't maintain well.
The hotel need renovation and good management.
I was hoping that the hotel has the following facility before going, however, all of them were out of service (Warm pool, cold pool, steam room, sauna room). The only available facility Hot Pool were not open after 7pm and is a disappointment. However, I would suggest to go the nearby Kampung Annah Rais Hot Spring if you are driving on your own about 10km away. The bed need to be changed as it is too old and will wake your partner easily.
Overall food quality are fine especially when I go on Christmas day and they serve the food in buffet style due to many guest are staying there.
Most facilities are not working. The swimming pool is under maintenance. The steam and sauna rooms in the spa area are down. The restaurant serves terrible food.
