Beautiful hotel very clean lovely food we had a great stay and will definitely going back in the summer the only thing we didn’t expect was you have to pay for parking I didn’t read anything about it when I was booking the hotel so when you add it to your stay could put people off booking
Very impressed with this place. Very good location, the building itself is stunning, parking nearby which was £12.50 for 24 hrs, the hotel and room was very clean and tidy, very spacious room and comfortable bed. Kettle and coffee was provided as well as ironing board, iron, hair dryer, soaps etc. Air conditioned rooms and plenty of plug sockets. 5* all around, I plan to visit Chester again and I'll definitely stay here again
The staff were not welcoming at all but rude .
The hotel was really busy and lots of Christmas party’s and people drunk not a place for my children was not informed of this . We wanted room service and was told we could not have as they were busy with a party of 400 people . Also was not informed before stay . We had payed for a room these at the party most of them not staying at the hotel . Was not a good place to sit with the kids at the bar as really really busy people everywhere.
So we had to go up to the room with no food as was told could not do us any food until after 9pm . No good for the children. Also we was on the first floor and all we could hear was load music all night from the party below the room . Also not told about before we booked . And people were partying in rooms next to us very load until 4.30am . Hotel staff did not seem interested. Even on check out the guy did not ask how our stay was . The hole experience was very expensive and shocking from start to finish . Was a special surprise for my wife and was totally ruined . Also had to wait 40mins to check in at 4pm hole experience was shocking.
What a sad deterioration of a once elegant and beautiful venue. It has been downgraded to a budget hotel, lacking in both comfort and character. The public areas have been stripped of everything related to the hotel's history and heritage and the bedrooms are bland and cold.
Check-in was efficient but unwelcoming. It seems to be hotel policy that staff should never smile at guests.
There was no heating in the bedroom. It was a chilly night but the only way to warm up the room was to set the air-conditioning to a higher temperature but since it works by blowing air out of vents set high up towards the ceiling that is not very effective. And being a fan system, it was too noisy for sleep, so I had to turn it off when I went to bed. By early hours of the morning, the room was freezing. The paper-thin duvet was no real help. If you stay here during the colder months, I would recommend packing your winter woollies to wear in bed.
The staff are unhelpful and unfriendly."Good morning" got a grunt from the chap on the reception desk and a blank stare from the waiter in the dining room. There was a queue waiting to check out but there was only one staff member handling checkout; two others were sitting there chatting. Due to limits on review length, I cannot detail how bad the hotel was, but I can say that If you are looking for comfortable accommodation, quality service, pleasant ambience or courteous staff, then go elsewhere – you will find none of these at the Queen.

On our arrival very disappointing welcome at Check-in. We expected to complete registration form but nothing requested. Allocated a room on 2nd floor without being told access was through heavy double doors and down stairs. This was not easy with mobility problems. Room itself was sub-divided. Bathroom and desk area had no heat.Bedroom was comfortable but heating affected by draughts from air conditioning. Reported to Reception and reinforced when checking out. Restaurant fully booked on our check-in but had enjoyable meals on second and third nights. Staff very friendly and helpful in all areas.
Booked a last minute stay and decided on The Queen at Chester and im glad we did. Hotel was lovely and clean, all staff friendly and polite. We got a complimentary room upgrade on arrival. We only had a slight issue in that we went up for another drink during breakfast and staff thought we left and cleared our table so when we came back someone else was sat there. But we got a new table no problem! And breakfast was lovely with lots of choice. Would definitely recommend and stay here again.
Lovely hotel after a refurb , modern and comfortable rooms . Disappointed with a 4pm check in as it felt like we were hanging about waiting to get changed after travelling , but other than that all good
From first contact with reception staff to dining room staff to bar staff everyone showed professional at all times. Staff member who stood out was Eliza on reception whose smile was the best. Please pass on my gratitude to your staff especially Eliza. Our train journey home was appalling as 3 trains were severely delayed resulting in us missing connections and arriving home 2 hours late.
We need another holiday with you.
Thank you again

Very warm welcome into an impressive building. All staff were friendly and helpful. Large comfortable room. Great selection at breakfast.
Super convenient for the station, a little out of town but a pleasant walk . Will definitely stay again.
