This property was freezing. We were given a space heater the next night because the heat is centralized. There was black mold all over in the bathroom. The photos must be from 15 years ago or so because the bathroom did not look like it did in the photos. The corners of the floors seemed not to be vacuumed. The sheets were clean and changed each day. I highly recommend eating somewhere else. Their breakfast was €12 and was incredibly unsubstantial. A couple pastries and yogurt was all they had.
Our room was two buildings down from the initial original building where the reception desk/check in was. The man who checked us in seemed very flustered and rushed. He couldn’t answer many questions. Our “full double bed” was two twin beds pushed together with very thing mattresses. The room was very sparse. The shower was good size, but you did have to let the water run a while before the hot water came. But we did have hot water for our whole shower (I know people have complained of water issues. When we were checking in a girl was complaining to the receptionist of no hot water in her room and he had no answer or help for her). We were only in Venice for the night so it was doable for us and for the price. Our room was overlooking the canal and walking distance to a lot of things! We felt safe walking around till late at night. Quiet for sleeping.
This was a perfect hotel for 2 of us. Exactly what I expected to stay at in Venice for the price point. Room was not large but did not need the space. Great area, away from the touristy spots but still lots of places to eat and have drinks. Short walk to the sights. Staff were very kind and helpful.
This is not worth the money for this hotel if you are getting the apartment rooms they are not attached to the hotel there is no wifi in them and our room was dirty on arrival and couldnt view the room beforehand. We were there for 3 days and only one time was our room cleaned and bed was made for what we paid for was not worth it it was $900 canadian for 3 nights would never recommend anyone to stay here
I would never stay the hotel:
1. The radiator wasn’t working and there were no remote for the AC. The room got freeeeeezing cold at night to the point that both my husband and I got super SICK! . We had to hug for body heat because the duvet/blanket was bedsheet like thin.
2. I had no way to complain about it because no phone in the room (I’m international so couldn’t call via my mobile phone).
3. Hotel was in 267 but reception was a block away in 216 so did not want to walk in that pouring rain.
4. tap water in the sink had no warm water. Freezing cold water.
5. Bathroom was not attached to the room but down the cold hallway. It was very inconvenient when sick and wanting warm shower.
6. I thought I paid for the view of the canal but instead they gave me room 4 twin beds (we are only 2 people) . Money wasted in wrong room.
7. Shower clogged till 3-5 inches after I rinsed only for 5 min and didn’t wash my hair . Imagine I actually had washed my long hair.
8. The room had stains all over the floor (coffee, wine, blood?) who knows. It was dusty as if it hadn’t been used in months.
9. There was no water heater, tea/coffee, water, iron. I don’t have high expectations from some European hotels. I brought my own tea. But nothing to warm the water when I got sick!
10. It’s kinda far from most touristy sights. 25 min ish walk.
The only two good things were they let us check in half an hour early and let us leave our bags for a couple of hours.
Nice place to stay, quiet and with a nice view. bring mosquito repellent, there are a lot of mosquitos in Venice. The Wi-Fi in the room might not be able to reach you.
DO NOT STAY HERE! Look up reviews on other sites & avoid our mistake! They have several listings just to dodge all the poor reviews. PROS: The location & staff are actually top-notch. Hot water worked as expected. AC unit did work properly. Staff was helpful (as possible) - staff consisted of one man per night running around out of breath trying to keep up with all the complaining guests. CONS: But we stepped into the hotel and could tell immediately it was not going to be pleasant. The interior of the building is very old and outdated. Everything needs work and updating. Odors everywhere, stains everywhere. We thought we stepped into the movie The Shining and we literally ran away from a scary man one night that wondered into the hotel off the street due to no locks on the front door of the hotel. Hot without AC on. Cannot control the AC. We had to call the desk to get someone to bring out a remote to turn it on/off or change the temp. The light on the AC is so bright it lights up the whole room. But we could not sleep without it due to the heat. The bed consisted of a very hard frame with 2 terrible small mattresses on top pushed together to make it almost as big as a queen. We woke up (after barely sleeping) with backs hurting. Carpet looks very dirty & bathroom sink had poor water pressure. Did not see any bed bugs. But we were / are scared about that after seeing RECENT reviews mentioning this being a problem via another site. Yuck! I would not recommend anyone stay here
We really enjoyed our stay at the hotel Messner. The staff was friendly and helpful, and the room was clean and comfortable.
We had a private bathroom in our room, but we were also on a floor with a shared bathroom in the hallway (right across from our room). This made for some noise late at night and some awkward meetings with semi-naked strangers in the hallway.
All in all though, it’s a beautiful more quiet part of Venice. The salute water bus stop is a very short walk, and there are several really great spots to eat or get an espresso close by.

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service
The location is just next to the Dom, with very polite staff. I took one star off due to the size of the room (which is basically the size of the bed with a little bathroom) plus the cover of the toilet's flush was off and needed to be placed back all the time. Breakfast was for an extra 12 EU.
There were so many issues I don't know where to start.
The room looked nothing like what they advertised (Family Room, Canal View). When I complained and showed them the pictures of what we were supposed to get, they said to email management, there's nothing they can do. The room was dirty, there were no separator for the shower, water got everywhere.
The air conditioner was broken and they said someone was coming in 2 hours to fix it. At the end of the day, they said no one is able to come today and they will fix it tomorrow so we had to sleep with no AC the first night. The next day, they "fixed" the AC but it was just making noise, there were no cold air coming out of it. We complained again and they said they'll send someone, no one ever showed up.
Everytime I was at the front desk, it seems like there were other guests complaining about something wrong with their room as well (broken shower, stinky smell, etc).
I highly recommend NOT staying here to save you troubles on your vacation.
For context, I do not ever leave reviews of restaurants or hotels. Making an exception for this one due to a particularly weird experience. As someone who has travelled extensively on a budget, I am super forgiving of a lot of issues but feel the need to warn others about staying here. The location of the hotel (or maybe it’s 3 hotels?) is perfect. Close to Guggenheim, short walk from Accademia and multiple convenient vaporetto stops. Check in was promising. Nice enough staff. We left our bags in the lobby early in the day and spent the afternoon at Biennale. Once we finally got into the room it was a different story. The room looked nothing like any photos from the site. We were in a building about 300m from the main hotel and I suspect most photos were taken in one or 2 rooms in that building. It was small and in disrepair. The lights flickered constantly and the hairdryer in the bathroom was tape-wired into the vanity lights with exposed wiring visible. As someone who regularly works with electricity I wasn’t super alarmed but this could be a real turn-off for most folks. The molding in the bathroom was literally molding (there has to be a place to buy something like Kilz around there, c’mon—at least try to cover it up) and the toilet was constantly leaking from the base. There was an unused courtyard outside of our window. Seemed to be full of storage for a construction project. The lights were left on day and night for the duration of our stay making it hard to sleep…
