Upon arrival, the hotel was found to be very bright and airy. However, the room was cold and damp at times during the visit. The shower in the bathroom was virtually unsuable due to not being able to adjust the angle of the shower head's spray whatsoever - the resulting water spray was virtually horizontal, and the control on the mixer taps to adjust the shower's temperature was very difficult to use. The latter tended to result in scalding hot water, rather than a comfortable water temperature. One of the "clean" and folded hand towels that was provided by the hotel for my stay there, had what was clearly dried excrement stains on it from a previous user (just why?????). These issues left me with a less than satisfied view of its management quality processes, although the various staff that I spoke to during my stay were all very helpful and friendly when dealing with any queries that I may have had at the time.

It is a very dated hotel. In our first room one of the windows couldn’t be closed and we had to ask for a change of the rooms. The next room had working windows but the carpet was incredibly dirty and the room smelled of cigarettes. Very cold breakfast are with another window that couldn’t be closed!

My Manchester stay—full of quirks. The WiFi was MIA, and my mobile data might as well have been a brick. Clean-ish room, but the bathroom door refused to close, and the sink leaked unless twisted shut with superhuman strength. The location’s great, right by Manchester Piccadilly, and the room size was fine with a kettle, TV, desk, and bathroom. But charging my phone from bed? Forget it. The only USB is on the lamp, which only works when the light’s on. Oh, and they’ll charge you £5 to hold your luggage after checkout. Not terrible, but it could definitely use a little TLC.

Staff was amazingly nice, and very helpful. Place was clean, hot water was steaming hot, and had great pressure. Everything worked as expected. The area is not accessible to Uber, so that was a pain, especially in the rain, but a short walk solved it. They also took one of my personal towels by accident, and it's gone forever, but I should have been more careful. I would definitely stay here again.

This property is old. The rooms are creaky and dirty. The pics on Expedia are not what they are are in reality. The WiFi doesn’t work in the rooms. The rooms are tiny.

I'll start with the positives as only fair. The hotel location was superb - very central, easy to get everywhere. The breakfast was good with a number of choices and table service for hot breakfast. Unfortunately the bad experience we had started when we walked into the building. The entrance hall and lobby looked severely dated and run down. The lobby area by reception had sticky substance on the floor. Check in was fine and easy. When we arrived in the hotel room, we were slighly shocked. The room looked nothing like the pictures we had seen on expedia. It was very old fashioned and bathroom was not great. The carpet was so old. There were stains on the bathroom wall. The bed itself was fine and furnishings good. When I reported to reception that I wasn't happy with the room and wanted to moved, they said they were fully booked which I can believe as it was a busy weekend. I had to report this to expedia to try to find another hotel. After a lot of waiting with expedia and hotel staff to get back to me, they declined to refund the room. They didn't even offer any alternative. My issue is that the pictures looked nothing like those on expedia which is what I based the booking on. Yes it's only three star so maybe I shouldn't have expected better but was still disappointed with how the hotel and expedia handled this. I will not be staying there again.
