Full Trailer for Olmo Schnabel's 'Pet Shop Days' Feat. Willem Dafoe

Pet Shop Days Trailer

"Captures a street-level realism." Utopia has unveiled an official trailer for a grainy, experimental indie film creation called Pet Shop Days, marking the feature directorial debut of young filmmaker / producer Olmo Schnabel. Yes he just so happens to be artist / filmmaker Julian Schnabel's son. This premiered at the 2023 Venice Film Festival, and it also played at SXSW & Santa Barbara last year, and is finally being released in NY & LA cinemas this March. For anyone intrigued. Impulsive black sheep Alejandro and pet store worker Jack, enter a whirlwind romance that sends them deep down the rabbit hole of depravity in Manhattan's underworld. It's executive produced & presented by Martin Scorsese, Michel Franco and Jeremy O. Harris, starring Jack Irv & Dario Yazbek Bernal, alongside Willem Dafoe, Peter Sarsgaard, Emmanuelle Seigner, and more. This is sort of an NYC drama, sort of an old school vibe film, and sort of just a strange crime thriller. Seems like it's trying too hard to be something unique when it just looks derivative & boring.

Funny Trailer for 'Giants of La Mancha' Animated Don Quixote Movie

Giants of La Mancha Trailer

"For La Mancha!!" Dazzler Media in the UK has debuted their official trailer for an animated movie called Giants of La Mancha, made by Argentinian VFX artist Gonzalo Gutierrez as his feature directorial debut. This was already released last year also under the titles Gigantes and/or Storm Crashers, but La Mancha provides a better hook. This trailer is for the UK release but since we never posted anything last year for the US release, why not catch up with it now. The story follows 11-year-old Alfonso, heir to Don Quixote, and his three imaginary rabbits, who are also joined by Pancho and Victoria. With their power of friendship, they save their beloved hometown La Mancha from a huge storm. They dream the impossible dream, overcome their fears, and use their imagination to find the real force behind the storm. So this is a mash-up between Don Quixote and Twisters? 🌪 Wild. Featuring the voices of Facundo Reyes, Marina Blanke, & Julian Janssen. This looks like a really bad direct-to-VHS movie, but that's also what makes it so ridiculously fun. Wait - why is there a giant mechanical spider in this? Did they borrow this from Wild Wild West? Hilarious.

Mysterious Teaser for 'Mother's Baby' Thriller with Marie Leuenberger

Mother's Baby Teaser Trailer

"Georg, something's not right here." The Match Factory has revealed a teaser trailer for a mystery thriller film titled Mother's Baby, made by Austrian filmmaker Johanna Moder. This just premiered at the 2025 Berlin Film Festival a few days ago, and will likely play at more film festivals this the year before hitting theaters. An unsettling film about a new mother. Julia, a successful conductor, and her partner Georg would like to have a child when Dr. Vilfort offers them hope. Julia becomes pregnant at the doctor's private clinic in Vienna. The birth does not go well and the baby is immediately taken away, leaving Julia and Georg in the dark about what has happened. When finally reunited with the child a day later, Julia feels strangely distant. She begins to doubt whether it is really her child... The especially talented Swiss-German actress Marie Leuenberger (from The Divine Order) stars as Julia, with Hans Löw as her husband, Claes Bang as her creepy doctor, and Julia Franz Richter as a creepy midwife. I caught this at Berlinale and it's very good - a captivating little film about motherhood with especially eerie vibes as she tries to figure out what actually happened. Is it really her baby? Or is it something else? Keep an eye out for this - I recommend watching it.

New US Trailer for Miguel Gomes' Film 'Grand Tour' from Cannes 2024

Grand Tour Film Trailer

"I'll hunt him down, whatever it takes." This one is for cinephiles only. Mubi has unveiled the official US trailer for a strange film titled Grand Tour, a unique creation from Portuguese director Miguel Gomes, best known for his films Tabu (2012), The Tsugua Diaries (2021), and his Arabian Nights trilogy (2015). The film premiered at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival last year and it won the Best Director award as part of the competition, with stops at many other festivals after. Described as a "breathtaking odyssey of romance, escape, and pursuit." In 1917 Burma, a British civil servant abandons his fiancée — only to find her then relentlessly chasing him across Asia. A playful yet melancholic reimagining of the "pursuit film," blending luminous 16mm B&W cinematography with archival footage. This stars Gonçalo Waddington & Crista Alfaiate. It is a tragicomedy though also "melancholic and courageous." This is definitely not for everyone - an experimental, abstract style of mash-up cinema that only certain people will be into, so tread carefully.

Second Coming-of-Age Drama 'The Life List' Trailer with Sofia Carson

The Life List Trailer

"Life is beautiful & messy & complicated, and sometimes it doesn't look the way you think it's supposed to look. Keep going." Good advice. Netflix has unveiled the official trailer for an empowering, wholesome film titled The Lift List, adapted from the book of the same name. Another enjoyable little film about working on figuring out your life. When her mom requests she finish her bucket list, a young woman finds romance — and rediscovers herself. When Alex Rose's mother sends her on a quest to complete her childhood bucket list, it takes her on a journey that will make you both laugh and cry as she uncovers secrets and rediscovers herself along the way. As she navigates the messy process of her second coming-of-age, she confronts her grief while finding the courage to live fully again. "Alex takes us through this journey of loss with tears in her eyes, a smile on her face, and wit on her lips as she learns to live again. More than anything, I hope you watch this film & feel awakened to life again." With Sofia Carson, Kyle Allen, José Zúñiga, Sebastian de Souza, and Connie Britton. This looks super sweet and charming and sentimental - it's worth a watch.

Opioid Crisis Series 'Long Bright River' Trailer with Amanda Seyfried

Long Bright River Trailer

"You gotta let it go..." "I'll let it go when I find her." Peacock has unveiled an official trailer for a streaming series titled Long Bright River, an opioid crisis thriller set in Philadelphia. It will be streaming in March for anyone interested in watching. Amanda Seyfried stars in this series as a Philadelphia police officer who searches for her sister, an addict who has gone missing. Adapted from Liz Moore's novel of the same name. When a series of murders begins in her own neighborhood, Mickey realizes that her personal history might be related to the case. Showrunner Nikki Toscano adds: "perhaps what drew me in the most was the possibility of what this show could achieve in its ambition to upend stereotypes: of those born into poverty & addiction, of those engaging in sex work, of those who have been written off or marginalized after they've seemingly fallen through the cracks of their community, and finally, of those engaged in police work. In fact, what makes LBR so unique as a series is that it aims to deconstruct the 'police as savior' narrative — a journey pulled through our protagonist, Mickey Fitzpatrick." Also starring Nicholas Pinnock, Ashleigh Cummings, Callum Vinson, and John Doman, with Dash Mihok and Britne Oldford. Have a look.
