El helecho arborescente Lophosoria quadripinnata, prefiere crecer en espacios abiertos del bosque y fue la especie que exhibio la mas alta tolerancia al efecto de la disminucion de la disponibilidad de agua en la germinacion, en oposicion a los helechos arborescentes Alsophila firma y Cyathea divergens, que prefieren establecerse en sitios de sombra (Riano y Briones, 2013).
