The document, written by senior North Korean official Hwang Ho Nam, lashed out at the textbook compiled by nationalist academics with the Japanese Society for History Textbook Reform on more than 20 points.
In a welcome speech, Hwang Ho Nam, the association's deputy chief, referred to the textbook issue and Koizumi's Yasukuni visit and strongly denounced the Japanese government for ''placing a new crime upon crime.''
The North Korean side -- which includes Hwang Ho Nam, secretary general of the Committee on Measures for Compensation to the Former Comfort Women for Japanese Army and Pacific War Victims (COCOPA)-- expressed hopes that the two Koreas can ''make concerted efforts to make Japan redress its past.''
