Three species other than starlings nested in the nest boxes: eastern bluebird (
Sialia sialis L.), 8 nests; house wren (Troglodytes aedon Vieillot), 1 nest; and tree swallow (Tachycineta bicolor V.), 2 nests (Table 1).

Western bluebirds (
Sialia mexicana) are recolonizing their former range in valleys of western Montana, say Renee Duckworth of Harvard University and Alex Badyaev of the University of Arizona in Tucson.
In fact, throughout New York State, bird lovers have undertaken numerous local projects to help re-establish the bluebird (
Sialia sialis).
