The most, almost fully regular
adjectival paradigm is found with the suffix '-less'.
At the same time, the idea that the inflected participle is an
adjectival modifier, whereas the uninflected form is more verbal in character, does not stand up to close scrutiny, as the following examples show:

adjectival and nominal) as relating to the 'gentleman'; but here a potential trap awaits us, for these were the 'gentlemen' of the Victorian era who conquered and exploited with the same belief in their role in 'the natural order of things' as their Athenian counterparts who kept slaves, and had the time and means to attend symposia, frequent gymnasia, and pursue young men.
