Ojibwa George Copway's poem, 'Once more I see my fathers' land', appears in his autobiographical work The Life, History, and Travels of Kah-Ge-Ga-Gah-Bowh (George Copway) (1847): Once more I see my fathers' land Upon the beach, where oceans roar; Where whiten'd bones bestrew the sand, Of some brave warrior of yore.
