The Curly-Coated Retriever's coat is quite different from the coats of other retrievers.

With no sign of the unusual black and white curly-coated feline the couple had decided to put up cash for his safe return.

If you want to break From the norm, flat-coated or curly-coated retrievers are an option.

Among the breeds that can be affected are Siberian Huskies, Alaskan Malamutes, Irish Water Spaniels, Portuguese Water Dogs, Curly-Coated Retrievers, Airedales, Boxers, Miniature Schnauzers, Bulldogs, French Bulldogs, German Shorthaired Pointers, German Wirehaired Pointers and Chesapeake Bay Retrievers.

This time, on the eve of the competition, we were introduced to Gareth Jenkinss curly-coated pets.

These curly-coated black beasts, with their menacing horns, are the survivors of Ireland's native breed of cattle, still kept and milked by 135 farmers in the country.

There is even a Rex, or curly-coated variety, with curly whiskers.

Then a cool article about curly-coated retrievers, followed by the obligatory photo of a Labrador retriever, etc ...

A campaign has now been started by the British and Irish Dog Breeds Preservation Trust, which is also highlighting the plight of the Skye terrier, curly-coated retriever and Dandie Dinmont terrier.

One theory holds that breeders started with now-extinct English water spaniels, then crossed in curly-coated retrievers and Irish water spaniels.

"Let's go after them," John Heyn and Sarah Shull volunteered as they opened up the back door of an SUV and released Rhino, Shull's four-year-old male curly-coated retriever, and Rory, Shull's six-month-old female.

Breeds such as the Otterhound, the English toy terrier, the curly-coated retriever and the Irish red-and-white setter had fewer than 100 registrations with the Kennel Club last year.

The curly-coated retriever, for example, tends to mature especially slowly, so training for these dogs should not progress quickly.
