In the study area, soils that developed from the Jurassic siltstone stratum exhibited remarkably lower pH values than that from the Jurassic sand-mudstone stratum.
The sandstone lithology in the studied area included argillaceous silt-stone, dolomitic lithic sandstone and dolomitic siltstone. Argillaceous silt-stone had a high content of terrigenous detrital minerals and the interstitial materials were mainly made up of clay minerals and some amount of authigenic quartz.
