If Oregonichthys was isolated in the Miocene Umpqua River from its broad-ranging sister taxon, the Rhinichthys complex, the
sympatry of both genera in the modern Umpqua River requires subsequent dispersal of Rhinichthys into the Umpqua River.
pame clearly evolved in
sympatry in a riverine setting (Rican et al., 2016; Perez-Miranda et al., 2018).
Two leopard species were reported to live in
sympatry, whereas interspecific resource competition could develop at the junction of closed and open habitats, through the use of the same prey species, especially if their availability is limited (Lovari et al.
Body size of [F.sub.1] hybrids.--No significant difference in body size between adult females of the two parent species has been found in this zone of
sympatry (Mckean et al.
Pre and postcopulatory traits of Salvator male lizards in allopatry and
sympatry. Scientifica 2016:1-9.
The latter has a restricted range (<1000 [km.sup.2]) most of which occurs in
sympatry (600 [km.sup.2]) with the other two species (Grau et al., 2006).
scabripinnis from Tatupeba stream, also highlight the role of Robertsonian rearrangements, such as centric fusions, in the karyotype differentiation of this species, where specimens with 2n=46, 48 and 50 chromosomes were found in
sympatry indicating that in this locality three distinct species.
The atherinopsids represent a species flock due to high levels of
sympatry, morphological evolution, and species diversity in a relatively small geographic area (Barbour and Chernoff, 1984; Echelle and Echelle, 1984; Greenwood, 1984).
gaimardi exists in five morphotypes in
sympatry that are characterized by the colors of their spines (green, black, gray, brown and rose) (Fig.
In areas of
sympatry with other trypanosomatid agents, the identification of circulating Leishmania species in dogs is an important component in the epidemiological study of leishmaniasis, and diagnosis by PCR has been used for this purpose (ALMEIDA et al., 2013).
There are records of
sympatry between black-and- gold and brown howlers in areas of Araucaria forest in Argentina (Agostini et al., 2008), at the ecotone between Cerrado and Atlantic Forest in the state of Parana, Brazil (Aguiar et al., 2007) and at the northern boundary of the Pampa biome, very close to the Atlantic Forest sensu lato (Bicca-Marques et al., 2008).
mystinus occurs from northern Oregon south to Baja California Sur, Mexico, indicating a broad region of
sympatry in Oregon and northern California.
arcticum in
sympatry (Conflitti et al., 2010, 2011; Shields, 2013) and these observations suggest paracentric inversions in Y chromosomes of males occur early in the differentiation process and therefore may be important in the promotion of reproductive isolation.
spilotus (RUIZ-CARRANZA & LYNCH, 1997), three species of glass frogs that live in
sympatry in a locality of the Central Cordillera of the Colombian Andes.
