A spokesperson for North Tyneside Council has now said: "As soon as we heard about the recent convictions of company employees, in relation to
tachograph offences committed on longer journeys, we carried out an immediate risk assessment to make sure none of our children and young people had been put at risk.
In total 18 people - including company director Alison Snaith, bus drivers and administration staff - found themselves in the dock for offences relating to the records kept by vehicle
tachographs between June 2010 and May 2013.
As well as drink driving, officers also checked
tachographs, tyre conditions and lights.
Members of the European Parliament gave the nod of approval, on 15 January in Strasbourg, to a new generation of
tachographs, devices used to record driving and rest times of professional drivers.
Under the partnership, the two companies will collaborate on integrating fleet management and
