Many types of balloon
tamponade devices have been developed, ranging from the humble condom tied to a Foley urinary catheter to the sophisticated Bakri (6,7) and Belfort-Dildy (8) balloon
tamponade devices.
The risk factors for development and progression of cataract in post PPV patients include older age, degree of pre-operative nuclear sclerosis, intraoperative lens touch, internal
tamponade like silicone oil injection and gas.
In these patients DCR was done with our mucosal flaps stabilization technique using Merocel
tamponade. Preoperative workup included Ophthalmologic assessment, sac probing, sac syringing and diagnostic nasal endoscopy.
The patient was informed and counseled about different treatment approaches including "wait-and-watch" for spontaneous recovery, pars plana vitrectomy, and a novel technique of pneumatic displacement with intraocular gas
tamponade. The patient did not consent to active surgical management by pars plana vitrectomy Being in active military service with dominant eye involvement, rapid recovery was warranted, so he was treated with 0.3 ml of C3F8 (100%) injected intravitreally in aseptic conditions followed by paracentesis in the operating theatre with prone positioning (Figure 3).
Then selected patients were placed randomly into group A (intrauterine balloon
tamponade) and group B (B Lynch suture) by using lottery method.
The pathologic basis for development of pericardial efusion and cardiac
tamponade in IMH patients is not completely understood.
The patient may present right heart failure, superior vena cava obstruction, and even pericardial
tamponade. In our case, the tumor ruptured into the right atrium and pericardium, which caused pericardial
tamponade and massive pleural effusion.
The
tamponade was induced for 60 min by intra-pericardial administration of heparinized own blood (100[+ or -]50 mL), and the MAP was kept between 40-45 mmHg.
Cardiac
tamponade was present on both reported cases of post traumatic and iatrogenic pericadiobiliary fistula.
The balloon
tamponade is a minimally invasive, safe procedure that helps prevent sepsis, massive loss of blood, excessive use of antibiotics, sutures, surgery and other loads, in particular, disability of women.
Although penetrating injuries by needles is a rare clinical situation, they can lead to mortal and morbid conditions due to
tamponade, infection, embolism, valve disorders and thrombus (1).
Summary: New Delhi [India], Jan 5 (ANI): Cardiac
tamponade is a medical emergency in which blood or fluids fill the space between the sac that covers the heart and the heart muscle.
Currently, the classic procedure for treating IMH is pars plana vitrectomy with peeling of the internal limiting membrane and intraocular gas
tamponade, followed by a face-down position for several days [4, 5].
It is also essential in patients with suspected
tamponade [1].
